Dr. Stephen Ralph Gushin, MD

Dr. Gushin was my psychiatrist for most of my adult life. He was incisive, intuitive, of superior intelligence and insightful. I couldn't give a more positive endorsement of such a genius.

I've met with 4 psychiatrists (not psychologists) in my life, and Dr. Gushin is the only one who really listened and wasn't just pushing pills. He listened to my questions about medications and picked a simple and helpful course of treatment for me. I really appreciate his approach.

Somewhat shallow and dogmatic. Puts too much faith in drugging people, and too little in doing the hard work with his patients to help them change, and learn how to change. Not recommended.

He is a really nice guy, has a sense of humor.However, sometimes he gets fixated on one thing you may have mentioned about your past and keeps bringing it up like all your current problems are directly related to it. He is good with finding the right medication but once he gives you the medication he no longer is very interested in finding the route of your problems..
