Dr. Stephen Boyd Hillis, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Hillis for nearly 20 years, and I regret not leaving sooner. His appointments are extremely rushed — it often feels like he’s out the door before you finish explaining why you’re there. Continuity of care is poor, and if you don’t show up every 90 days, you’re dropped as a patient. Most of the time you’re seen by an assistant, not the doctor, and the level of attention and professionalism has noticeably declined over the years. There’s very little effort to listen or follow up on ongoing health issues. After moving to a new physician, the difference was shocking. I finally understood what quality medical care looks like — something I was not getting under Dr. Hillis. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Unfortunately Dr.Hillis office has become nothing more than a money pit and less care for the patient. Breaking point was charging me an xtra fee monthly because i have multiple diagnoses and then charging me $150.00 for what they called a no show when I was under the impression I had a tele visit and actually called 15 minutes early yet was told I needed to pay the fee BEFORE i could reschedule a visit. There are a number of things that are red flags, such as Doctor falsely accusing me of arguing with another office personnel when it was another patient with my same last name-Never did I receive and apology just the Doctor referring me to Julie Cunningham his partner for care without asking me. Attempting to make charging for services i didn’t receive and having to come in the office for every prescription renewal just so they can charge another office visit, are just a few of the tactics this office pulls on a daily basis! I have had very good experiences with Dr. Hillis and Taylor Swenson. All the staff have been very responsive to my questions and needs. When I have had a problem occur they were usually were able to fit me in a timely manner.

Love that he hired a PA-C to help him see patients. I have been able to get in that day for an urgent matter instead of going to the Urgent Care and sitting there for hours.

Doctor Stephen Hillis is the best family doctor I have seen in a long time. He truly cares for his patients!

I have enjoyed his new office. It is warm and inviting. It took his staff a little while to get trained but now they are amazing. They are all friendly and seem to like working together.

Dr Hillis is a great physician unfortunately his staff won't answer the phone or return calls. Had to go in and get my medical records to take to new doctor and overheard another patient complaining no one returns her calls either. Too bad. I really like Dr Hillis but need a doctor who can manage my care.

Was referred to him 3 years ago, Have refereed others and all so far are very pleased. Hard to find a doctor these days that doesn't treat you like an assembly line.

This is a great Doc, he always listens to why or why not on a treatment plan.
