Dr Johs has a professional and experienced team. I was very impressed with the care I received and the outcome of my surgery.

11 years ago Dr Johs removed a portion of my colon that contained a mass that was possibly malignant. The following day, despite being up since 4 am performing surgeries all day, he came up to my room at 8pm with a copy of the pathology report showing NO cancer. He showed the same caring and compassion throughout all the follow up exams as well. I have recommended him to other patients over the years. BTW, 3 nights ago, he performed emergency surgery on a friend's 87 year old mom. She's doing great.

I first saw Dr. Johs about 15 years ago. Had a great experience that for the second, third and now a fourth-unrelated surgery have sought him out. He is kind, compassionate, communicative and responsive. He takes an abundance of time to communicate all aspects of the surgery. His team is top notch. One surgery saved my life and the others enhanced it. I highly recommend him.

I am a biomedical scientist and professor at the University of Colorado. Dr. Johs recently performed middle-of-the-night emergency surgery on me to resolve a strangulated hernia. Please don't allow out-dated, unfavorable reviews to dissuade you from seeking Dr. Johs' exceptional care. Dr.Johs is a superb physician and surgeon, technically skilled and highly experienced. His attentiveness, both pre- and post-operatively were exemplary. I found Dr. Johs to be warm and compassionate and an excellent communicator. I recommend him unequivocally and with great enthusiasm.

I sought Dr.Johs' expertise for breast surgery. I am a teacher and I really wanted to understand my condition and the surgery that would be necessary, more thoroughly. Dr. Johs gave a generous amount of his time to educate me regarding the medicall aspect of my condition. This was extremely helpful to me and helped me decide to have the surgery that I had been avoiding. I was able to schedule the surgery quickly. Dr. Johs met with me again before surgery and explained the procedure in greater detail. That pre-surgery discussion was very helpful and set my mind at ease. Dr. Johs performed the surgery with skill, precision, awareness and care. The pathology report revealed a diagnosis of breast cancer. Dr. Johs spent a great deal of time with my family and I to help us understand the disease, the next steps, the treatments and possible outcomes. We are all very grateful for Dr.Johs' manner, his expertise, his skill, and his ability and wiilingness to educate us as we move forward on this… healing journey. Dr. Johs has our highest recommendation as a physician and surgeon.

Six or seven years ago I woke up in such tremendous pain that my husband took my to a few emergencies before one could take me. The center that saw me could not figure it out, were too busy to pay attention to me and finally 7 hours later the radiologist thought perhaps that my colon and intestine were twisted around each other. They sent the images to Dr. Johs, who immediately confirmed this diagnosis. I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital where Dr. Johs met me. He was everything the other reviewers have mentioned, professional, kind, compassionate, smart, confident and no-nonsense. He cut the twist out of the colon and I survived!

Dr. Johs spent time with me explaining the type of breast cancer by hand drawing at the first appointment and I was very impressed. I was so impressed with him I didn't get a second or third opinion! Big big mistake. He ignored my chronic disease, then the anesthesiologist cancelled the surgery at the beginning. Dr. Johs didn't give me options to treat breast cancer. He did lumpectomy without clean margin. I changed the doctor.

I feel very blessed that Dr. Johs was my surgeon. What should have been a simple outpatient surgery, ended up being a very intense surgery due to an existing infection, with a 6 day hospital stay. I knew from the moment I met him that I was in good hands, but throughout the process to get me on my road to recovery that I was in excellent hands. He spent so much time with me, going over everything. I was never concerned because I knew he was all over the situation. I would highly recommend him, and if I ever have to another surgery I would definitely want him to be my surgeon.

I was at first very impressed with Dr. Johs. He spent hours with me explaining the type of breast cancer I had. I honestly was so impressed with him I didn't get a second opinion! Big mistake. There was a lab error that he completely defended. He did three lumpectomies, chasing after something that should have been taken care of with a mastectomy after the real diagnosis was finally discovered (after I asked for a second opinion of the pathology.) I finally had a mastectomy by another surgeon. Eight months later my cancer had already spread to Stage 3! He gives patients too many choices, when their head is spinning! He didn't know enough about my type of cancer to treat me effectively. His staff is ridiculous.

I have seen many doctors, and I Dr. Stephen Johs sets a new standard. He is personable, honest, respectful, thorough and professional. He made a difficult experience very difficult for me, and he went above and beyond anything I have seen a doctor do, in terms of caring for a patient's well-being. I would recommend Dr. Johs to anyone.
