This Dr. almost let me die after removing a fatty tumor from my neck. I was given almost no instruction after surgery and sent home. The hair around the neck was not shaven prior to surgery and you could see some hairs were actually stitched and stapled in the incision. The incision was about 5" and all the staples had popped or pulled lose within 48hrs and infection set in. I had to go to the ER twice where they removed all the staples and stitches to clean out the giant hole in my neck, which they (the ER Dr. packed the wound with a silver type stuffing and I had to stay in the ER for 36 hours and received interveniously antibiotics for 12 hours straight. I had a horrible staph infection that cleared up after the ER treated me twice. When I returned to him for a follow up, he looked at the gaping hole in my neck and literally dismissed it by saying "Oh that's nothing, just wash it in the shower and rinse it with hydrogen peroxide " ! Every other Dr. told me the EXACT opposite, no… water and DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide!! The wound was 3-1/2" wide x 2-1/2" high and 2"deep wide open!! My wife found a competent plastic surgeon and prescribed to me a home healthcare nurse and I ended up disabled for 2 months with the nurse coming every other day to clean and change my bandages and monitor my progress. I was very lucky to survive the whole ordeal as that huge whole in my neck was just filled with infection within 2 days after he operated. It was incredibly traumatic for my , but more so for my wife, the fear in her eyes was almost unbearable during the 2 ER visits. I think this old Dr. should retire, for every instruction he gave me, and there were very little given, were contradicted by every ER Dr. (3, I saw) and by the best Plastic Surgeon my wife could find in Central NJ. He is used to doing things his way, absolutely horrendous bedside manner. I don't believe he has kept up with advances in medical technology or continuing education in his very, very long career. Do not let this man near you with a scalpel!
