Dr. Stephen Van Laborde, MD

Absolutely love and recommend this doctor to anyone seeking a good dermatologist.i have no insurance and his charges were very reasonably priced considering he is located in the galleria area!!!

I sought treatment for acne scars with Dr. Laborde on the recommendation of my family doctor. Dr. Laborde explained several options for me. Felt he was genuinely interested in helping me to look better. I am very happy with my results so far and hopeful that I will continue to get even more improvement.

I have seen a few dermatologists - good ones and bad ones. I have lost my good ones due to them relocating to other parts of the city. I came upon Laborde by seeing his sign in front of his building as I passed by it daily. The doctor is pretty cocky and sometimes I do not feel that he even cared why I was there. If you want someone to tell you to simply "stop touching your face" this is the doctor for you.

As we age, our face begins to change and the natural sense of peace or joy seems to leave our face. He knows how to restore that look of joy in a very natural way! My sense of joy is restored both inside & out.

Perhaps mine is a special case, but I could not recommend this doctor. I initially visited his office interested in topical mild acne treatments which were offered on his website. I was talked out of two different topical treatments and into a long course of antibiotics. Mind you, my acne was so minor (but persistent) that those who saw me in my makeup were unaware I even had it. I initially resisted systemic treatments very strongly due to possible side effects, but hey, the doctor knows best, right? The doctor had me started on bloodwork for Accutane (!!) which should have been my first clue. He backed off that after doing all the bloodwork but prior to starting treatment and had me on a very long course of antibiotics instead. After my first month, I mentioned gastrointestinal disturbances, and the doctor brushed aside my concerns and recommended that I continue treatment for another six weeks. Meanwhile my acne was no better. I started to suspect that maybe I would continue to come… in for $60 office visits that did nothing, so I changed dermatologists.Sadly, the damage may have been done. The course of antibiotics did a number on my GI system, which has never fully recovered. I now have chronic GI issues that I never before had I also developed joint aches which have never fully gone away. I cannot definitively tie it to the course of antibiotics, but my new surgeon told me to immediately get off it, as HE strongly suspected a link. A healthy young person basically fell apart in the span of a couple of months.I cannot stress how badly this has affected my quality of life. My joint pain turned into inflammation, which turned into surgery, which effectively ended my career path. My GI system will never be the same. Meanwhile, I switched to a derm in town who cured my acne for good with the topical treatments which I had first been interested in. No stomach involvement!Trust me, this is a sincere review, and while this doc may be suitable for treating your particular issue, please please please do yourself a favor and resist any treatment with which you are not comfortable. Sometimes the doctor does not know best.

I suffer from bad acne and was tired of trying everyting that did not work. He virtually cured my acne after the second visit! I like Laborde becuase he truly understands how important the apperance of our skin is to us.

I visited Doctor Laborde (Galleria) first week of December. At that time the doctor took a biopsy, instead of calling me back regarding the results I had to call him back several times before getting a diagnosis. Also, was instructed to pay 100% until my condition was determined previous condition. (Insurance clarification) Meanwhile I waited four full weeks waiting to know if it was cancer or not! (Not a fun way to spend the holidays) once I found out I was in the clear I had a procedure done in office. It literally took two full months to get the office to refund me for the overage paid. Although the staff and Dr. Laborde are friendly, it didn't make up for the weeks of worry and the weeks of waiting for refund.

Dr. Laborde cleared up my acne and changed my life!
