Dr. Stephen Sy Lim, MD

I have been through different kinds of cancer, 40+ years ago, so it is not foreign to me what I may be facing now with bladder cancer. So you may guess, I have had my share of rude (not good bedside manner) doctors. To be honest, I had just "fired" a urologist prior to being directed to Dr. Lim. Everything happens for a reason. He made sure I knew exactly what what going on, what could be down the road for me and was so very kind about the "bad news". The Great news is I do not have to have chemo! But I had some minor surgical compilations that made other things in my personal life a problem. An out of town funeral, then another surgery had to be canceled. Dr. Lim was so kind to keep checking on me, not just waiting until my next appointment. Not just the nursing staff. I may be an unusually high risk patient and be getting the extra attention, but I know that previously mentioned urologist would not have given me a second thought. Hence the 5 start rating. I have at least 12… different specialists I have to see and I am very particular. Dr. Lim is definitely a keeper!

I have been a patient for over 7 years. He provided explanations and options to treat my prostate cancer. He called to follow up after my procedures and always treated me with dignity, kindness and respect. He also referred me to an excellent oncologist who has no equal. I would strongly recommend him.

I have been using Dr. Lim for approximately five years as my urologist on the recommendation from my primary physician. Dr. Lim has proven to be a very capable caregiver regarding my difficulties with prostrate problems and kidney stones. One of the most promising aspects in dealing with him is he will diagnosis ones symptoms; explain the various outcomes of the perplexities; make clear what different options are and their results; and leave the choice up to me what direction we should treat the problem. He is very upfront about potential results depending on my decision for treatment. Once and a while he may recommend one treatment over another but never forces a particular path. At this point I would not change anything regarding my relationship with him. I trust him.

After Dr Lim removed a Kidney on followup his 2 comments were: that tape will come off of there and throw that urine sample away, I don,t want to see it.

Dr. Lim is knowledgeable, professional and has great bedside manner. I would recommend him to anyone needing a Urologist!
