Dr. Stephen Leo Mckernan, DO

Dr. McKernan is a knowledgeable and caring doctor. He has been my doctor for approximately 11 years and I highly recommend him as a highly skilled physician.

Went to Dr. McKernan for pain in shoulder obtained in a fall. He recommended a cortisone injection to ease the pain in rotator cuff. He personally administered the shot. Less than 24 hours later the localized pain from the rotator cuff and where the shot had been administered began to spread across my shoulder into base of neck, down my back, down my chest toward my pacemaker and down my arm causing numbing, tingling, pulsating spasms and the most intense pain I've ever experienced. Shoulder and arm became pretty much paralyzed Was evident that something had gone wrong with the injection. Probably had damaged some nerves. After several days pain was so intense I was on the brink of insanity. Couldn't eat, sleep funcition or go about normal daily life. Went to Urgent Care at McKernans clinic to try and get at least some temporary relief until they could determine what was wrong. And of course the paralysis was of paramount concern. Would I ever regain use of arm and shoulder.… Urgent Care wouldn't treat me so they sent me to McKernans office. He was not there but one of his assistant MD's saw me and pretty much accused me of just being there to get pain pills. Pain had been so intense for the past several days I had become pretty much irrational. I became so upset at this doctor that I started uttering some obscenities. I suffered a mental breakdown right there in their office. I had been so much looking forward to some relief from that incredibly intense pain that when suddenly I realized this doctor was not going to give me anything for the pain and would not even address the rejection of the shot and it's consequences I just lost it. Became completely unglued and broke down. The pain had at last gotten the best of me. Instead of trying to help me get some relief they called local police and I was nearly arrested. Ended up at the ER down the street at Conroe Hospital where I got temporary relief pending getting a new doctor. Am still suffering a great deal of pain and still have little use of shoulder and arm. Have currently just gotten MRI and awaiting new doctor to interpret it and determine what all has happened and hopefully treat the problems involved here which is mainly the pain and paralysis I would not recommend McKernan or Lone Star Clnic to anyone
