Was very rude on phones when I experienced a problem. Asked for the doctor. The young girl stated it was the doctor who felt I didn't need to be seen sooner than 3 weeks. Went to another doctor to find out that the problem was serious. I had seen the doctor the week before and he should have at least moved the appointment to when told I really was having a problem.

I had an awful experience with Dr. Mechtler. I had a surgery that proved to be unsuccessful and was then prescribed Lupron that actually made my symptoms worse. Please research endrometrosis and find a Dr. who understands and treats the disease appropriately.

I went to Dr. Mechtler because I had large fibroid growths on my uterus. I had been to my primary first to see about having an othoscopic hysterectomy... she said not a chance because of the large size of it and that I would most likely have to be cut from hip to hip. yikes!!! I did my on-line homework and found Dr Mechtler was one of the lead surgeons in orthoscopic proceedures.I was very happy with the results and continue to use his practice for my yearly exams.

Many other OB/GYN's out there that are 100% better....

I started seeing Dr. Mechtler a few years ago when my other doctor retired. One of the very first things he said to me during a routine exam was, Oh, thank you for not being fat! Apparently, he said the exact same thing to my sister, who had also just switched to him. He made a lot of jokes that I didnt think were funny. Very dry sense of humor. The exam room walls are so thin that you can hear EVERY little thing that is said in the other rooms. I heard other patients entire exams while waiting for him in the room. I continued to see him for a while because it was just for quick routine yearly exams. Then, I got pregnant. My husband and I were excited. I went for my first prenatal visit and left his office feeling very discouraged and stressed. He was not pleasant at all during the exam and instead of answering my questions, he handed me a printout with frequently asked questions. To put a long story short, this exam made my pregnancy feel like a medical condition and not exciting at… all! I went back for a sonogram a week later, with a tech. He came in after the u/s wearing a t-shirt and shorts. He never bothered to introduce himself to my husband. I think his exact words to us were, Its my day off today, but here I am! Then, he turned to me and very callously stated, Well, I have bad news it looks like youve miscarried. Basically, my heart was shattered and I was confused. He didnt really explain anything to me. Then he said something about coming back in a week for another u/s just to be sure. So at first, he was certain that Ive miscarried and then he didnt seem so sure. I went home feeling horrible and filled with so many uncertainties. I called a different Dr. the next day and they squeezed me in for a same day appt., did another u/s and the Dr. came in and explained everything that she was seeing. She explained what I could expect and what my options were. She also showed compassion for what I was going through and even called the next day (on a Saturday) just to check and see how I was doing. I switched to this other Dr. and will never go back to Mechtler. My family members are switching as well. I think this Dr. is intelligent and may be very good at his profession, but he has terrible bedside manner.

my first visit with my daughter-in-law. We were very impressed. She is pregnant and changing physicians so were a bit apprehensive...no need. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful....Carly the Medical Assistant was exceptional...we loved her!!
