Dr. Stephen C Miff, MD

I had a terrible time getting Dr. Miff's office receptionist to allow me to set up an appointment in the first place. I am brand new to this insurance plan and had not yet gotten a card. I gave her the information on the temporary identification but that did nothing to get me closer to an appointment. Being as unhelpful as possible she told me I would have to call RPA. I told her I had no idea what RPA was and she scolded me because that what I had told her was on my temp id. Ah, Ravenswood Physicians Associates. I asked for the number and she begrudgingly gave it to me. She informed me that they would fax something to her and allowed me to set up an appointment for a week later. At no time were ANY medical questions asked.So I called RPA, they were helpful and said she could now pull me up in the system but that no fax would be sent. Called Dr. Miff's office back to relay the info to them. Two HOURS before my appointment, Dr. Miff's receptionist called to inform me that they… will not see me because she can't find me in the system. I should call RPA but regardless, Dr. Miff would not see me today. At no time did she ask if I had received a card in the last six days. After letting her go on for a while, I told her that I had received a card and thought that her attitude in not asking me was unhelpful and borderline unprofessional. At that point she said Dr. Miff will not see you and hung up on me!I am appalled that this health care provider's office seems to have very little concern over the health of their patients and so much concern about bureaucracy. Obviously I will not be seeing Dr. Miff and suggest that you keep looking too.
