Dr. Stephen Eric Moskowitz, MD

One star is too generous. Dr. Moskowitz isn’t just a bad “doctor,” but just a horrible human being. Aside from being extremely unprofessional (half hour or more late every time, answering non-emergency phone calls during our 15-minute appointment, etc.) by the third visit he STILL didn’t know my name. When he saw I was irritated about him being 45 minutes late that day he threatened to not write my prescription. No wonder so many vulnerable populations who come here (just visit the waiting room, you’ll see) date not say anything—If he cuts them off, then they have to wait six to eight weeks to get into a new psychiatrist (if they can find one taking new patients!) Dr. Moskowitz is everything wrong with mental health care in this country. I left his office and called my insurance company FROM THE PARKING LOT to file a formal complaint against him. Read the reviews—all these people aren’t wrong.

Stephen moskowitz is a liar with little to none social skills. Doesn’t care about you or your problems one bit. Treats his patients like addicts and is concedeing. He refused to look at my medical records and when I questioned him on something he told me “i’m not here to answer your questions” the man is a complete liar and fraud. He tried to get me on ADD medication within 10 minutes of talking to him. Interrupted me when talking about my symptoms and tried to convince me I had ADD. Which I clearly do not and even if I did I have a panic disorder diagnosed by two other psychiatrist’s and ADD medication would only make it worse. But he would have understood that if he only listened to me. But he just wanted me out the door as soon as possible. He should be investigated for misdiagnosing people. It was also very clear upon talking to him he knew very little about the medication I was taking since he lied and told me it was illegal to prescribe even though I had the last bottle I had… filled with me lol. They also overbook appointments so you will be waiting in a small cramp waiting room for a half hour after your appointment time.

A few visits with this Doctor was enough. After prescribing new medication for Depression he said to me "this medication better work". He scribbled directions that were illegible & so confusing on paper(how to taper off my old different medications) & then yelled @ me because I said could you please spell what you wrote cannot understand your writing & please explain directions more clearly. He appears to have a Napoleon Complex due to his small statue among a cruel disposition, odd mannerisms- he sits on a light blue velvet old, ragged, stained reclining chair minus a desk- patient sitting on a stained old, ragged light blue velvet sofa, behaving rude & unable to treat a patient in a respectful, compassionate, professional manner. How he ever maintained & continues a practice, a career as a Doctor I do not get. When I called office for a different sleeping medication( his did not help) he/the receptionist never returned my call. Called again- no response... Wait time was over 1hour… on all occasions.

In a nutshell, I happen to agree with the poster who gave only 1 star., although I was there for a very different reason than drugs. He didn't listen to me and most of the time, just read my file. Well, he could have done that earlier than in my appointment. Too much to tell here, but I am going to see another doctor and I won't take this kind of treatment again! I'm not THAT crazy!

Excellent, not over prescriber of meds, excellent listener

Went for help for a 15 y/o male, with both substance abuse and mental health issues with suicidal ideation and attempts. No criminal history. He was impatient, provided no support, advise or options other than "there is no hope or help for him". We were advised to go home and google programs on our own. He opined that maybe one day he will come around. He provided no suggestions. I am a licensed LCSW in NY and FL and worked in the field of same. On our own, we created and implemented a treatment plan that is in effect at this time. I found this Dr. to be unprofessional, uncaring, rude, uninformed and negligent in his treatment. It's very sad that he is in the head of a pediatric crises facility. He provides no hope or empathy or resources in the community. He basically advised us to give up on a 15 year old boy as if he were worthless.
