Dr. Stephen Francis Nichols, MD

I felt welcome and heard

I came in to Dr. Nichols years ago because I had been been experiencing terrible pain and bleeding during one of my periods. He dismissed my problems as normal side-effects of having my period, gave me a pelvic exam and said I seemed fine. I went to an ob/gyn a few days later for a second opinion. He told me my uterus was expanded as if I was 3 months pregnant. It turned out I had a fibroid tumor as big as a football on my uterus. How could Dr. Nichols have missed that had he been a competent physician?A few years after that, my parents were still using him, for some reason. My mother went in with a cough. He diagnosed her as having and treated her for pneumonia for a month. Her cough persisted. She went to another doctor and it turned out she had lung cancer. She was given two weeks to live and she hung on for four months. It's hard to say with lung cancer, but I can't help wondering if she could have survived had the cancer not been allowed to grow, unattended, for a month,… while Dr. Nichols was treating her for pneumonia. That was in 1996. Back in those days, we did not have the internet to post complaints publicly. I have been meaning to at least write a letter to Dr. Nichols. Our family could easily have slapped him with a malpractice suit.
