Summary

My interest in medicine began after I volunteered in the emergency room at Marshal Hale Hospital in San Francisco, while in high school. Ever since that time, I have pursued the practice of medicine because I enjoy science and caring for people. I chose the field of infectious disease because of the sleuthing and detective work often required to discover the cause of a fever or unexplained illness. Training I received at the Tennessee State Health Department during my residency at Vanderbilt University demonstrated the tremendous impact a physician could have through knowledge about infectious disease and epidemiology.

I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 2002. Kaiser Permanente continues to provide me with the opportunity to pursue my interests in clinical infectious disease and population-based medicine. The organization's focus on prevention of disease, including the use of vaccines, is important and vital to the health of our community. I have collaborated with many groups within the organization to improve the delivery of vaccines to our members.

My practice includes hospital and outpatient infectious disease consultation and the care of HIV infection. The collegial environment with my fellow physicians and the HIV care team is invaluable. I also assist with travel medicine services, for members planning trips to foreign countries, working with individual physicians as well as our Nurse's Clinic. I currently serve as chair of the infection control committee and chief of infectious disease. I am also president of the medical staff and medical executive committee, which oversees the function of the Vallejo hospital.

Outside the hospital I enjoy swimming, cycling, and spending time with my family.

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews

Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.

Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.

Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
