Dr. Stephen Patterson, MD

Our experience with Dr. Stephen Patterson during my husband Ryan’s Stage IV pancreatic cancer treatment was deeply disappointing. There were repeated communication failures throughout his care. Important test results were not discussed with us promptly, and at times we learned critical information from outside physicians rather than from Dr. Patterson’s team. Most painful was the lack of honest communication about prognosis. We were never clearly told Ryan’s cancer was terminal or that he likely had months to live. This left our family with false hope and without the opportunity to fully prepare for what was coming. When I advocated for my husband and asked questions, he accused me of attacking him over a prior conversation. He continued confronting me even as I sat crying in his office. Families facing terminal cancer deserve compassion, honesty, professionalism, and timely communication. Unfortunately, this was not our experience.

Without a doubt the worst doctor I have ever experienced in my 61 years of living! Zero compassion. Zero empathy. Zero interest in you. He provides the absolute bare minimum care he can get away with. Trying to get helpful information out of him about my cancer was like pulling teeth at each & every visit. He actually got angry when I dared to ask him questions about things I didn't understand. He is a "Doctor" who apparently does not like fellow human beings. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for over a year. I sensed from him that I was just a bother & inconvenience to his day. If you want a doctor who could care less about you & your struggle with cancer, then he's your man.

Dr. Patterson is a personal dr. He gave my husband and I all the time we needed. He answered all our questions in terms we could understand. We are very blessed to have Dr. Patterson as our Dr.
