Dr. Stephen Ignatius Proctor, MD

Dr. Proctor is an outstanding OB-GYN doctor! He’s professional, great listener, extremely knowledgeable and outstanding bedside manners!

So this review is a long time coming considering I was a patient for a short time with Dr. Proctor when I first became pregnant and my kids are now 17 months old. So I'll begin by the fact that when I first became pregnant Dr. Proctor was really reluctant about giving me a sonogram. He kept putting it off and saying he wanted to wait for me to get my gender scan at 18 weeks. That was the first red flag, what expectant mother wants to wait that long to see her baby? I kept asking and eventually he grudgingly agreed. This may have been around 12 weeks into my pregnancy. The machine he used looked ancient and I'm going to take that into consideration in the fact that at that time he did not see that I was pregnant with twins. I know it happens, one twin can be hiding etc. but I feel like a lot of things were maybe overlooked. I was never told if my Hcg levels were high, which can indicate twins. He obviously never heard two heartbeats, the most that was even implied was that he thought he… saw two heads during my one and only sonogram which I mentioned earlier took place around 12 weeks into my pregnancy. He couldn't confirm anything in the end. Most women in my twin groups found out they were having twins at 8 weeks. Needless to say once I found out it was twins outside of his practice I was completely shocked and a little upset that I had been carrying twins practically half of my pregnancy and didn't know it. Isn't this why it's important to get sonograms early on, so that any abnormalities or chance of multiples can be detected? As if that wasn't bad enough once I came back and told him what the sonographer found he just made light of it. At this time my head is just swimming, I'm thankful everything is going well with my pregnancy and the babies but now I know I'll need constant sonograms to check their progress as told to me by the sonographer .When I relay this to him, he says something along the lines of "Well we'll see how things go" What??? that was the last straw. I told him respectfully that from here on out I would be switching doctors, he seemed a little confused as to why I was leaving but I didn't want to go into detail so I told him I didn't want to deliver at the hospital he delivered at (United Medical Center) which was true and thankfully I moved a short time after that and was able to find the care I wanted for me and my precious cargo. I'm not a rude person therefore I didn't chew him out even though to this day when I tell ppl my story they are shocked I didn't go off, that's just not me but I know without a doubt I would not feel comfortable going back for future care especially for prenatal care.

Staff was professional and Dr. Proctor was easy to converse with my medical concerns.

Have been my doctor for a very long time all I can say he's the BEST EVER!!!!! He makes sure we as Women are alright and we are GOOD TO GO.

comparing dr.proctor to other obgyns ive been to hes great. unfortunately im one of the persons that likes drs to explain briefly my concerns and he rushes me out all the time i go in...and i leave out the office without answers til this day im trying to battle this discharge ive had since giving birth to my daughter...no answers and my daughter will be 1 alreay...

Dr. Proctor is without a doubt the BEST OB/GYN in the area. Although I lucked up and found him due to Pregnant women's medicaid while pregnant with my son, he made everything so fun and relaxing. My finance and I had the time of out lives with that pregnancy. Although it was my second child, he made me feel and my fiance feel so comfortable about asking questions. He encouraged him to be around during the visit, in the room, and every step of the way. He even gave me his personal cell phone number if ever I had a concern and couldn't reach him at the office. Needless to say I fell in love with this doctor. Now it's that time again. So I say, watch out Dr. Proctor,...here we come again..baby number 3! :)

My first visit to the office was just so great friendly staff and much cleaner and more private

Yesterday, I visited the Dr. Proctor's office for the first time, I must say, he and his staff was very professional. Dr. Proctor was able to answer all of the questions I had, also assured me that If I had any issues don't hesitate to call him. He also let me know that he would personally give me a call regarding my results of the visit and that I didnt have to come in unless necessary. I would like to add, that I went home boasting about the visit that I had yesterday. if any one is considereing a new OB/GYN I do recommend this doctor.

Dr. Proctor is great. He is willing to answer any and all questions you may have and really knows how to put you at ease.
