Dr. Stephen Michael Quinlan, MD

I have seen this Dr. Previously for kidney issues. He has always been unique, with a very dry sense of humor, but seemed to be a knowledge specialist. I was having a lot of bladder issues sense Christmas, was sent back to him by my medical Dr. The 1st appt. He asked what was wrong, told him n he seemed shocked. Advised my chart stated I only had 1 kidney due to cancer!!! We advised I had both kidneys, again shocked, ran out of room yelling at a nurse. They had the wrong information in my chart, blamed it on my clinic. Set me up for tests, ultrasound n cystogram. We had to go to his office after tests. He advised my bladder dropped n needed to see my gynecologist to possibly have bladder tracked up. Said my bladder n kidneys, urine were " as clear as a bell" (his words). I advised didnt want surgery, if could live with.That's when things got unacceptable. He became rude n mouthy!!! We asked why kept bladder infections. " He stated a womans lady parts are all open, n a women's urethra is… wide enough to drive a Volkswagen thru!!! I advised after being at the hospital around 3 hours, was ready to go, tried to shake his hand n thank him, he crossed over me, n shook my husband's hand n slapped his shoulder, n said " good luck sir, u definately have your hands full with " this 1"!!! I was offended n hurt, I said well I was going to shake your hand but I guess Not now. He again acted like a true chauvinist, slapped my husband's shoulder again n said, Good luck my friend, this 1s a handful, you're a BIGGER MAN than me, to out up with this 1!!! My husband just stood their, " deer in headlights look" he didn't know what to say, as this DR. Procedure to get MORE belligerent toward me to my spouse!!! Finally, I just tried to get my spouse n leave. I said down the hall leaving, " that was terrible n unacceptable. The Dr. Heard me n just laughed!!!! I still don't know what I did that caused him to act like this. My husband, you did nothing other than ask questions, like anyone else. This appointment was last week n I am still shocked, offended n hurt that I was treated like this, and as to "why"!!!!! I will never go back to this specialist again. We are Iowa clinic based with our insurance. I chose to see HIM because he helped me through my last ordeal 4 or 5 years ago, but there is no loyalty or trust left after that " chauvinistic pig" treatment. If you are female, DO NOT GO TO HIM!!!!

Dr. Quinlan saw me on a last minute emergency basis. I am appreciative of his ability to manage patient scheduling without an excessive wait time. He was very thorough, aggressive in his diagnosis and very careful and informative. I would recommend him to anyone seeking the treatment that he provides. **This is an opinion, not stated or implied as fact.

Worst experience of my life with a Doctor. He literally yelled at me when I tried to question him. He said he had an report in me from a year I KNEW I was never there to have a test done. He got angry and stormed out of he room to get his "proof", the nurse came back in and showed he was wrong! When he came back in all he said was "I was'nt to far off!". It was a 2 year differance! When I tried to ask questions & ask for explanation of tests he just talked to me in a condescending manner & never answered my questions. Stay away from this "Doctor".
