Stephen Rayburn, DDS, MS
I was an orthodontic patient myself in adolescence and the transformation that occurred impacted my life in such a positive way. My self-image was enhanced and I became interested in the profession as a life career. Nothing ever came along to distract me from that goal. I count myself very blessed to be a member of the orthodontic profession.
I love to see the results of orthodontic treatment and to compare where a patient started to where they finished. The change is often very dramatic, and all my patients are excited to see their new, straight smiles when their braces are removed.
Education and Experience
I received my dental education at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, TX, graduating in 1976. I served in the United States Air Force Dental Corps for three years and was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford Air Force base outside Oxford and Ramstein AFB in Germany. My tour in the …Air Force afforded travel opportunities throughout Europe and the Middle East and professionally, I was exposed to all aspects of general dentistry. Upon completion of my military service, I entered a postdoctoral residency in orthodontics at the University of Texas. I moved to Plano in the summer of 1981 to establish my private practice of orthodontics.
Continuing my education is a very important aspect of my practice philosophy. It is my goal to deliver the best, most effective treatment options to my patients. I have taken numerous courses and seminars on the use of Invisalign®, Incognito™, and in particular, the Herbst Appliance, which can greatly reduce the need for extractions, surgery, and headgear.
I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and received my Board Certification in 1991.
Outside the Office
I am originally from Amarillo and currently reside in Plano with my wife, Jan. We have two grown sons, Jeff and Blaine. When I have free time I enjoy traveling and skiing. My wife and I are also involved with several church and community activities such as Habitat for Humanity.
