Dr. Stephen Paul Reibel, MD

Should no longer be Board Certified. Mixes up one patient’s history with another’s. Ostensibly a psychopharmacologist, but is clearly not on top of changes required in the course of treatment. Was undoubtedly a competent therapist 40 years ago, but certainly not recommended to see him today.

Shrinks are people, too. Whether we like to hear it or not, or think it shouldn't be so, sometimes the vibe is partly a function of the patient. Not easy to explain, but it is so.

Unless he was pushed, this guy hardly ever said a word. I can't figure out how a review said how insightful he was. I never got any of that. He didn't actively do something terrible to me, that's the best I can say. I've never written a negative review of anyone online, this is a first. But when such an important role of psychiatrist is what someone does, well why in heck should we all not expect interaction, responses, professionalism? Maybe psychiatrists have gotten away with the silent treatment too long. No responses, let alone compassion. It just was not right. I know he must be elderly by now, but after spending a small fortune for me, I want to speak my mind about basically receiving no treatment! And I'm elderly now too by the way, so no pity party for him.

I was referred to Dr. Reibel by one of the city's best internists, and I'm very happy I was. Dr. Reibel is brilliant, wise, insightful, and enormously helpful. He's not a hand-holder, but that's not what an adult in treatment should be looking for. For that, you have friends and family. I highly recommend him.
