Dr. Ritter and staff are excellent, my back surgery and recovery have been well managed

I went to him twice for back and shoulder pain. He never checked my shoulder or back on either visit. He did not seem concerned about me as a patient. He talked down to me. He tried to tell me my pain was because of bad posture or an imbalance in muscles. My posture had improved a lot from the 1st to the 2nd visit but the pain did not get any better. I had gone to physical therapy at a hospital and he said the excercises they had me doing were fine for me. Howerver, he wanted me to try physical therapy at his office. Why?! I think he gave me the diagnosis of poor posture and muscle imbalance because he did not know what was wrong with me and he showed little interest in trying to find out because it was not an easy diagnosis. My husband who has no medical background could easily find the areas of my back where I had pain because he could feel the bumps and/or tightness in it. He was not prompt on seeing me and I was early both times for my appointments. The 1st time… he saw me after (20-30) minutes. The 2nd time he saw me after (45-60) minutes. There were no apologizes for him being late. I would not recommend him to anyone. I am going to another specialist for a 2nd opinion. The only positive was his office staff was awesome. They were great with helping me make appointments and answering questions. They were polite and respectful to me.

Dr. Ritter performed a lumbar fusion on the 5 lumbar and sacral 1. I had been having sciatic nerve pain for a very long time. I had gone through P.T. without much success. I also had steroid injections with minimal help. Finally I was given Dr. Stephen Ritter's name and with in 2 months I had surgery. The pain is totally gone. I thought he was terrific and would recommend him without reservations.

He was great on every level, there is really nothing more to say. He was right on and had answers very quickly. I will be seeing him for all my needs in the future and will everyone I know to him Thank you for your time.

Dr. Ritter was great, I was a little leary though because I only found one review on him and it was bad. Once I read it though I felt more comfortable. The person complained that instead of surgery Dr. Ritter recommended Physical Therapy. I like a surgeon that doesn't want to jump in and do surgery, I feel surgery should be the last option. I had a pinched nerve in my neck due to a herniated disc. I went to Dr. Ritter for three office visits before we decided on surgery, he made sure I tried other options before we did surgery. The surgery went very well, he told me all the details of the procedure and he answered all my questions. He even showed me my MRI and X-rays and went over them with me. He really made sure I understood what I was getting into. It has been a week since I had surgery and I can already tell that it was succesful I am having less pain and the nerve pain is nearly gone(I am supposed to give it 4-6 weeks for healing). His staff has been great they answer my questions… promptly and have filled out any paperwork I needed for work. I found Dr. Ritter to be very honest and he really seams to care, he even asked my family if they had any questions before he did surgery. If you are looking for a good surgeon, he is definitely it. I am really glad I chose him to do my surgery.
