Dr. Stephen Joseph Shields, MD

My husband saw Dr. Shields for the first time yesterday and was extremely happy with his visit - a doctor who listens! Staff was very friendly and helpful. He is soooo happy he changed his PCP to Dr. Shields.

Called today to try and get an appointment for my wife and was told the Dr is not taking new patients as she hung up on me, wow wouldn't go here for any reason.

My husband & I have been going to Dr. Shields for nearly 20 years. He's a thorough and caring Doctor who takes the time to explain. Staff has always been cordial and accommodating. I went to him yesterday for my annual physical and it reminded me how lucky we are to have him involved in our health.

My 80 year old in-laws moved here from out of state and was very apprehensive about changing doctors, after their first visit with Dr. Shields they both agreed that they like him much better than the previous doctor they had for years up north. It’s been nine months now and they feel better about him than they did at the beginning, and not only them but I am so happy that they have him, I sit in on the visits and I really appreciate him also. They are not viewed as just two more old people, he treats them as one would treat his own family.

Wonderful friendly staff. And superior Dr. Right on the money with diagnose all the time. Very clean

I previously saw a doctor who was part of a medical group at Largo Med and having to wait to get an appointment for days only to wait another 1+ hr to see the doctor (assembly line medicine), it was quite refreshing to have an actual doctor's office with a staff that communicates with you, who treats you well and genuinely cares about their patients. We actually got a follow up call after my daughter went there for a sprained wrist asking how she was doing. Won't get that at some medical center or walk in clinic! Kind of the way things used to be. Dr. Shields spends a great deal of time with patients and one never feels rushed to see the next patient. I have had very good care from Dr. Shields and his staff. Dr. Shields has priviledges at Morton Plant and other area hospitals. Morton Plant is within close walking distance so visiting a hospitalized patient is no big deal. Kudos to Doc Shields and his staff...

Doctor Shields is by far the best and most caring physician I have ever had. He is very accurate in his diagnosis and gets right to the core of the problem. He takes his patients concerns into his treatment plan. His bedside manners are superb and the hospital staff always have great things to say about Dr. Shields.

I have never had amore caring and intelligent Dr. The staff is exceptional also. I can not say enough good things about this Dr.

Warm and caring doctor. He takes time with the patient and listens.
