Dr. Stephen Ambrose Updegraff, MD

My wife was his patient for several weeks. She had problems with previous cataract surgery that left her virtually blind. Several doctors agreed the lenses put into my wifes eyes were too complex and needed to be removed. Updegraff was one of those doctors. He had my wife as a patient for several weeks and did not do one thing to help her situation. He kept referring her to other doctors for second opinions and still did nothing. Was there another issue? Absolutely, but that said, removing the original lenses and putting in some that are more simple would have made a tremendous difference. In the end, Updegraff did nothing and sent my wife a registered letter indicating he no longer wanted her as a patient. A pure classless and cowardly act. We have no respect for this individual whatsoever. At least he could show some caring for his patient but apparently, he does not. End the end, we found a competent surgeon that knew what he was doing and replaced the complex lenses. My wife can… now see, ride a bike, and read. All of which she could not do with the other lenses and Updegraff could have made a difference if he had acted like he said he would. Would not recommend this person to anyone.

I had cataract surgery 2 weeks ago. The medical care I received from Dr. Updegraff and his staff is simply beyond outstanding. My eyesight is incredible now. Both eye surgeries were flawless. Dr. Updegraff is the absolute best and I can't recommend him highly enough!

Dr. Updegraff, Dr. Behn and the whole team are best at Lasik and complete eye care. I trust my vision to these professionals!

My father had to have his prescription done over twice and the glasses still aren’t right. On top of that he paid almost $1,000 out of pocket and they also charged Medicare. We called multiple times and received no return calls. They also haven’t sent an itemized bill as requested!

Poor service Charged excessive amount for lenses that my dad can still not see properly through. Did not return calls or send emails as promised. I had to call numerous times and still no resolution and staff did not email an itemized bill as requested. My dad feels ripped off.

If you value your time skip this place. Every appt I've had has been late and most 1-2 hours late. Customer service is lacking and no one cares. It is more like a factory.

Dr. Updegraff and staff are true professionals. An overall wonderful experience, with a terrific doctor and staff. Overnight, I went from 20/400 vision to 20/15. Amazing. Everyone at the office is friendly, patient, and takes the time to answer all questions. Highly recommend.

Dr. Updegraff and his staff took wonderful care of me. I was nervous before my consultation, but everyone was very patient with me. I never felt like a number and my vision is perfect - 20/15!
