Dr. Stephen Dominick Vitale

I have been seeing Dr. Vitale for almost three years and I have had nothing but positive experiences. I don't believe that I have ever waited more than a few minutes for my appointment and scheduling has been easy. I take good care of my teeth but due to a skin condition I do have some gum issues and need to have my teeth cleaned every three months. The staff always asks if I am having any problems with my teeth and they have paid close attention to any changes in my dental health. I find them to be a very friendly office that really cares about their patients.

When I finally let this dentist fix my slow decay in my back teeth I wanted to see a closer look at the problem. He became immediately defensive and rude. I should have never let him fix my tooth that day because after he finished his tantrum he took his anger out on my mouth. He barely drilled and aggressively added the filling. I thought it was rough but I didn't know how rough until I went back a month later for the other tooth. This time he drilled and put this lighted instrument in my mouth several times. The process took almost three times as long as the filling from the previous month and cost a lot more too. But the worst part is when he was finishing the filling he lost control of his instrument and it forcefully hit the tooth next to it. The nurse looked at me and said "it was not me". The doctor said nothing. I have had nothing but trouble with the tooth that was accidentally banged by his metal tool. I will never go back to this office. I feel when I pay for services… I have every right to ask questions until I feel comfortable. I don't know which was worse his attitude or his unsteady hand.

Have been a patient for years. Every visit has been great with my comfort being a priority.

His wife (who is his assistant and office manager...) is extremely rude and unprofessional. Their website is quite misleading, as they suggest they are helpful. I was horrified how she responded to an inquiry about an emergency "did you try superglue?" followed by "call someone else; we're busy this weekend" after I broke a tooth. Dear DDS- have you read what is written on your website? Perhaps you should answer the phone yourself until your wife learns your mission statement (and that people shouldn't put superglue in their mouth).

It was easy to schedule an apt time. I have nothing bad to say of this dentists skills and ability to perform, the problem area was numbed and during the actual procedure I felt alot of pressure (which is normal) but no PAIN. My ONLY complaint is that I do not feel as though he had any understanding that some patients are truely scared thru the process and have anxiety. I was made to feel that if i can not sit quiet as a mouse and still as a wood plank he will not agree to work on me again and being made to feel this way actually made me cry. I understand he had a job to do but where is the bedside manner?
