Dr. Stephen Harry Weiss, MD

This doctor should not be in practice. Emory hospital should be ashamed after all the malpractice suits and patient complaints. I had a prenatal visit which was horrific with this ignorant doctor. Avoid him.

STAY AWAY... my mother was scheduled for a in and out procedure for removal of her ovaries. Dr. Weiss proformed robotic surgery that day and my mom was suppose to come home that day. I was contacted later that she would not be coming home because her bowels had been cut and she was going back into surgery to save her life because bowel was leaking inside her body and she could become septic. During this time I never laid eyes on Dr. Weiss when I asked about his where about I was told he was gone on vacation ( I believe he was meeting with his lawyers because he knew what he had done) by this time everyone from the janitors to any one that was important at Emory knew about my mom and what had happened. My mom had to a colostomy done to reverse the damage Dr. Weiss had done only for that not to work and turn around and have a ileostomy done. My mother stomach has been cut open 6 times from her breast to the top of her vagina she is permanently disfigured she is constantly hospitalized… for bowel obstruction she has a hernia from the multiple surgeries, protrudes out of her clothes and caused her shame and embarrassment she now suffers from anxiety and depression, she is now on disability and unable to work. She is hospitalized multiple times a year and have so many complications behind this. When I finally got a chance to have a conference with him and the Dr. that saved my mom's life(whose name I will not mention) Dr. Weiss sat there with a look on face like "what I'm I here for" when asked for an apology he just stared at me with nothing to say. He never apologized, not because I wanted him to admit any wrongdoing, but for the pain and suffering my mom and family has to deal with. The Dr. That saved my mom's life felt so bad he sat at the table with his head down in shame of what his colleague had done and his behavior. If he has done this to my mom. I know there are others. Often times these issues are not reported to the medical board and swept under the rug by the hospital. Emory covered this story up we were never contacted by anyone from the hospital not even a patient advocate lets remember everyone that was anyone in that hospital had heard about my mom's case (other doctors weres coming to see her and speak with us telling us that Dr. Weiss and the hospital was wrong and was covering it up) I had to demand that a patient advocate come speak with us and set up a meeting. I almost guarantee that my mom's case has never been reported and none of his other cases has been investigated. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN.

The absolute worst bedside manner I have experienced in my life. Extremely condescending and dismissive. I came in for what I thought may be a serious matter (large breast lump) and he laughed at me and said it would go away. What?? I walked away wondering if he was even a doctor since he acted like such a child.

I can't believe this doctor is able to practice. He is arrogant, condescending, and has awful bedside manners. Not only does he show zero compassion and empathy, he also prescribed medications to me that do not interact well together. I know this because the pharmacist called me to warn me when it was called in. Avoid if possible.

He was dismissive and condescending. After my ultra sound came back 'normal' I was told women my age have fibroids. He was not responsive to the pain I described and acted as if I was making it all up. Worse experience ever.

I was sent to Dr Weiss because I had a huge cyst and was going to have to have my ovary removed as well. I asked his nurse about the reviews I had seen and was told that he's not touchy-feely and he won't coddle you. She then added that he's the best OBGYN she's ever worked for, he knows what he's doing, and there was no one better when it came to gynaecological surgery in the Atlanta area. He was extremely nice, answered all my questions, listened to my concerns, and had me in with the surgical coordinator inside of 45 minutes. He also noticed on my chart I was a historian, and we had a great talk about my area of study while he did the routine exam. After the exam, he sent me an awesome note through the portal letting me know how everything checked out and letting me know what to worry about and what not to worry about. Dr Weiss was highly educated, got straight to the point, and listened to my concerns and worked with them when it came to my treatment. I would definitely go to him… as my regular OBGYN.

Dismissive. He made me feel like I am a high maintenance patient when I am very uncomfortable during my first pregnancy.

Dr. Weiss was recommended to me by my regular GYN when I needed a Hysterectomy to remove large fibroids. I only met with him a few times but I can understand the negative reviews regarding bedside manner because he didn't really give me a warm fuzzy feeling. What I can say though is that my surgical experience couldn't have gone any better and I would not hesitate to go back to him or recommend him to someone else needing surgery. I had very large fibroids and went in expecting to at least to have a couple incisions during the procedure. He did a vaginal hysterectomy without any kind of cut or incision and I was back on my feet the next day feeling like nothing had happened. Bottom line is if I have to choose between bedside manner and expertise, I will choose expertise every time.

terrible! from the beginning to the end of the surgery where I return home with a prolapse problem. He was a bad experience, I wished I had more details about him before I went to see him. This would have never happen to me.

One star is too generous a rating for Dr. Weiss. I saw him over a year ago, and thinking of his appointment still makes me upset. He was among the most callous, unprofessional, and unhelpful doctors I have ever met. After making me wait for over an hour, he cut me off as I was explaining why I was seeing him. He then caused me a rather immense amount of pain (which he would've been prepared for, had he listened to me for 2 minutes), and didn't even notice I was passing out until his nurse called out. He left while I was sobbing in pain & never went back to check on me. He evidently wrote in my chart that, if my symptoms persisted for 6 more months (!) to come back to see him, but never told me that. I must say that his nurse was lovely; I hope she's moved on to work with a better MD.
