How could I have my eyes operated on while still awake? The thought made me fearful and uneasy at the thought. However, in my experience, the thought of the procedure was by far the worst part of having cataract surgery. I had been nearsighted since jr high. In the past several years I've noticed things looked much grayer looking out of one eye more than the other. I also found out I had diabetes, which apparently can cause cataracts. I was referred to Filutowski Cataract and Lasik Institute for cataract surgery. I found the waiting area to be relaxing and comfortable. I met with several people prior to meeting Dr. Winslow and all were kind and informative. I liked Dr. Winslow immediately. He was very calming as he talked with me. I knew that he had been hand picked by Dr. Filutowski to perform surgical procedures. Just prior to surgery he came to check with me and tell me what was going to happen in the operating room We even had our picture taken together! Everything went… exactly as he described. Though the procedure was slightly uncomfortable, there was absolutely no pain, and he told me if I did have any, just let him know and he would numb the eye more. I did not need it. The staff in the recovery room as well as the prep room were wonderful as well. It was amazing after having the first eye done how bright white looked compared to the uncorrected eye. I can now see far away without glasses, which is great when waking. If I could have afforded the procedure at the time, I would have liked to get the Clear Upgrade. I would recommend Dr. Stephen Winslow Jr. to anyone needing cataract surgery.
