Dr. Stephen Harold Yandel, DO

Saw Dr Yandel for an allowed 40 minute visit. Visit was 10-12 minutes. He promptly told me I had a lymphoma with a genetic deletion that was practically untreatable and that I should seek out a clinical study. Since I had researched my case pretty thoroughly this was totally unexpected and mind bending. I went home and poured over my labs and was 99% sure he was wrong about the genetic deletion. A subsequent 2nd opinion confirmed that. I don't fault anyone for misreading or misinterpreting something but to not take the time to confirm that perhaps the most important genetic alteration in cancer is present or not is inexcusable. I hope Dr Yandel reads this and goes back and sees where he screwed up, learns a lesson and corrects his seeming indifference to patients and trivial reading of the data. Cancer patients are people too.

I brought my husband to Parrish Cancer Center to receive his Chemo ONLY! The reason I chose this center is because they are affiliated with the Mayo Clinic where my husband is currently a patient. It is a very long drive, so we asked about getting his chemo at a closer center, but will continue with our doctors at the Mayo Clinic. We made our appointment and met with Dr. Yandel. Everything went well. He seemed to be good, said that he would order franks chemo and bloodwork, and he could get his first treatment at Parrish, then he would transfer us to Omni in Melbourne. Then he asked a few questions, and we answered them. Then he says to us, I see that you were a patient of Dr. Craig Badaloto. He's a friend of mine, why did you stop going there? So I told him, he did not want to treat Frank anymore. It was more then that, but I did not get into it. I knew at that point it was over, we would never hear from this doctor again. I was so correct. Dr. Badalota was all about… MONEY!!! He did not care about my husbands health, he told my husband that he was going to die.....So I know that this review is about Dr. Stephen Yandel.. So I guess that this doctor is the same.....WHAT A HORRIBLE MAN...DO NOT GO TO HIM!!!!

This doctor told my mom she had leukemia treated her for it for years we thought she had it then after many nine years of treating her for this another doctor confirmed she has never had leukemia but a blood disorder thalassemia anemia that never needed kimo therapy only procrit shots. So all these years she suffered mentally and went through medical procedures she never ever needed this doctor along with Dr Rajiv Chandra never treated my parents correctly only ran their insurance up used them for their drug experiments they are terrible and should have their icences taken away and never practice medicine again cold hearted uncaring quacks

I found Dr.Stephen Yandel to be one of the most profound doctor in his field. His attention to detail and knowing every little thing about a patient is remarkable.I had experienced wonderful Doctors at Shands in Gainsville and preferred to stay there.It was recommended we go to him and I could not have been more pleased. Over the following year with his treatments, attention and unbelievable detail to each step of the long road to living normal again after having leukemia. I believe he is one of the finest physicians that Brevard County is fortunate enough to have.

Wow, I am surprised at the negative reviews. I have nothing but a great experience with Dr. Yandel and his office staff. He listens, answers my questions and has been nothing short of great. This is with a leukemia diagnosis.

This guy called me on the phone instead of a face to face to tell me my wife had cancer and had 3-6 months. Turned out it took 2 weeks to confirm the cancer diag. Asked for a face to face in her room and he showed up before I got there and left. Didn't offer any treatment to even try and control anything...just gave up on her. With all the treatments that are emerging for gallbladder cancer he should have tried something. people are lasting months, even years after a stage 4 diag. but he just said "she's dieing...bye".

My grandmother is 75 yrs old and got cancer a year ago. She began seeing Dr. Yandel and he has treated her cancer over the last year. However, Dr. Yandel's specialty is also Hematology and he obviously doesn't know anything regarding Hemophilia. My mom and I are both symptomatic carriers of Hemophilia B. My son is a hemophiliac. When my uncle previously spoke to the doctor about getting a factor level test for my grandmother, the doctor argued and said that since my mom was a carrier, my grandmother was. Not true! There is a 30% chance the it spontenously happened in my mom. However, my grandmother almost died after a miscarriage long ago and has had bruising problems recently after her hospital visit. To top it off, they were giving her blood thinners! My grandmother recently was scheduled for an invasive test and my mom again asked for her factor level to be tested since we do not know if she is also a symptomatic carrier. The doctor initially refused and told my mom that… because of my grandmother's age, it didn't matter. In my family, the carrier's have low factor levels, under 60. Research is now showing these people need to be monitored for surgeries and procedures. It shows that carriers with low factor levels can bleed like mild hemophiliacs. The doctor then tried to tell her that Medicare would not cover the $130 test (it does if you code it correctly as a "family history"). Then my mom said she'd pay for it and he still argued and stated that he was the "doctor" and she needed to listen to "him". After getting angry, my mom finally convinced him to order the test but he then scheduled the procedure prior to the test results anyway. One would think that to cover his own butt, he would want to confirm a bleeding problem first but I guess he wants to take the chance of getting sued when something goes wrong. Our entire family is very angry with this doctor. Why he is so against a simple test, I don't know. A simple test that could save my grandmother's life during a car accident or a surgery. I would NOT recommend this doctor as he doesn't care about his patients, especially the elderly.
