Dr. Steve Wahel Hilwa, MD

My husband was seen and admitted by Dr. Hilwa on Friday, September 22. I have worked for hospitals, including Johns Hopkins, and I emphatically say this. Wow! What a knowledgeable, and personable, professional we discovered with him. I would hope if the need ever arises, to be under his watchful eye in the emergency room of Orlando Health at Dr. Phillips Hospital!

He knew my husband and I were anxious about my diagnosis and he stayed many hours beyond his schedule to make sure we felt at ease before he went home. My only hope is that he could provide training to the other physicians I encountered during multi-day stay at this hospital. He is one of a kind!

As a mother of young children, I've made numerous visits to the emergency room. I never go to the same hospital more than once, unless of course, it has exceeded my expectations. At Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, I was not only satisfied with it's customer service, promptness and cleanliness, but I was impressed with the quality of care the emergency department provided for my two-year-old daughter. Dr. Steve Hilwa was the physician on duty the evening my daughter Naomi was admitted. He does an excellent job of collaborating with and effectively leading his medical team. We were tended to in a timely manner and were always well informed of the tests and/or procedures being performed. Dr. Hilwa is very knowledgeable in his field, but what impressed me the most, was his patience and ability to listen. He took an interest in the well-being of my daughter and made a genuine empathetic connection with us. Thus, allowing us to have a pleasant emergency room experience. Yes, I used the words… "pleasant" and "emergency room" in the same sentence. :)

I have never seen such a nice doctor I've seen him a few times with my family in dr Phillips hospital he is always friendly and takes his time with us explaining the diagnosis to us he reminds me of the way doctors used to be
