Dr. Steve Kelvin Singh, MD

I was born with a heart defect. Every year I would go to Boston Children’s for my yearly checkup. I was told every time that I would probably need OHS one day, that my aortic valve would need to be replaced. My father had had two open heart surgeries over the course of his life. Both in Boston. One in the early 1950’s and the second in 1980. He had been declining for a few years after eventually being diagnosed with CHF. I had been feeling weak and lightheaded for a long time and attributed it to the sadness and stress of my father’s medical condition. A month after his passing I ended up in the hospital myself. I made an appointment in Boston and was told that the time had come. That I needed AVR and soon. Thankfully, Dr. Singh made time for me that day to meet. He answered all my questions. He sat and was patient while my emotions got the better of me. He made my family and me feel comfortable and confident in his ability to do what had to be done. Five days later he replaced my… valve. It’s been a long and difficult road, but now I have time with my children. I have time to live. Thank you Dr. Singh. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
