HE IS SO LUCKY THAT OTHER JUNIOR DOCTORS ARE THERE TO ACTUALLY TAKE CARE OF PATIENTS! IF IT WAS JUST HIM, HE WOULD HAVE MADE ME WALK RIGHT OUT, BUT SINCE THE TRAINEE WAS NICE I WAS ABLE TO OPEN UP TO HIM AND GET THE HELP I NEEDED.

I read the review from someone below who was misdiagnosed by Dr. Bird. I had the exact same thing happen!!! It wasn't my back like her, but it was my galbladder. I had this horrible pain on my right side, and even though I had never had it before, Dr. Bird blew me off and told me I had constiption. What????? I know what constipation feels like!! I eventually had to have my galbladder taken our the next day at another hospital. I'm never going back to UMass again, and you shouldn't either! And if you see Dr. Bird, RUN!

VERY Caring Dr.

Dr. Bird was my emergency room physician in 2016. Worst experience possible. I had cauda equina, which is a classic medical emergency. Lack of proper treatment in the form of surgery, can and often does, result in permanent irreversible paralysis. Not only did Dr. Bird NOT recognize the symptoms of my medical emergency, but refused to believe that I was even experiencing them. In addition to other symptoms, I told him I had saddle anesthesia. I had learned about it online while looking up my unusual and terrifying symptoms. He asked me how I knew what saddle anesthesia was. He even had the gall to mock me! I also said that I knew what I had because the symptoms were so clear. I knew I needed an MRI and surgery asap. Dr. Bird said that the chances of my having that were "infinitesimal", and "the chances of actually having that made it impossible". I DID HAVE CAUDA EQUINA. I had to fight my way through to getting an MRI and surgery because of Dr. Bird's lack of knowledge,… unprofessional attitude, lack of empathy, and largely his ego. I am still recovering 2 years later due to the delay in treatment - even though I was at the emergency department of a trauma level hospital in time. DO NOT LET DR. BIRD TREAT YOU. REFUSE - AND DEMAND A DIFFERENT DOCTOR!
