The only thing he lacks is the God-like complex most surgeons have. Very skilled, compassionate, and overall wonderful doctor.

When my Husband read the review by the woman written on September20, 2016......He thought I had written it. I too had failed flap surgery at UPenn . I might add that the failed side was not performed as the diep flap that I had gone to this plastic surgeon for. The diep flap side survived. I believe I was a teaching opportunity that went wrong. I was deformed. My insurance company actually suggested I see Dr. Bonawitz. From the start I knew he would do all he could to return the failed flap side to a breast. He has done more than that. As Dr. Bonawitz warned it has taken patience and a few surgeries..... But my breasts now look and feel like my own. It took his skill to get the mess made at UPenn to match. I recently saw another Dr. for another minor issue and he saw my reconstruction. He politely ask if I minded if another Dr.could take a look. They both agreed they had never seen such beautiful reconstruction... ever.....And they had seen quite a bit. Dr. Bonawitz is a nice person… too..... A bonus!!

I had my first revision surgery following DIEP flap breast reconstruction with Dr. Bonawitz and he did a superb job. My original board certified plastic surgeon (and breast surgeon)made a mess out of my body and I was thrilled when Dr. Bonawitz accepted the challenge of fixing someone else's mess. I still have at least 2 more revision surgeries. Dr. Bonawitz said he can improve upon my results, and the word "fix" is not the right word. I agree it would take a magician to fix everything gone wrong. Had I gone to someone more competent the first time, I might be looking at only 1 revision, which is par for the course. Dr. Bonawitz is an excellent surgeon and I highly recommend him to anyone needing breast reconstruction. He is also very honest and straightforward and spends as much time with the patient as is needed. My original surgical team at UPENN lied to me and mislead me. I highly recommend Dr. Bonawitz to anyone needing breast reconstruction.

think he is too busy

Dr Bonawitz was the third doctor I had been to for my problem. I feel he went above and beyond any expectations I had. I would recommend him to anyone!
