Dr Steven Borer, DO

My 26 yr old son, a runner, & athlete saw Dr. Borer for a 2nd opinion. He saw another cardiologist for a 5 yr follow-up due to a congenital bicuspid valve. This cardiologist didn't really speak to him, look at him -informed him that he developed LVH, HR too low, etc. My son was devastated as this news was shocking. We received the echo report from this cardiologist and again, horrible news with a very low EF. I advised my son NOT to return to him and to get a 2nd opinion, hence, he saw Dr. Borer. Dr. Borer listened to him closely, asked appropriate questions, could see that he was a runner; asked about his lifestyle etc. Since there can be some variances in reading echo's, he offered to get a copy of the actual ECHO. He not only read the Echo but consulted with another cardiologist who specializes in athlete's hearts. Hence, my son went for a follow-up with Dr. Borer 6 months later for an echo, and his EF is normal. I would highly recommend Dr. Borer for his calming demeanor and… truly listening closely to his patients. My son felt like he cared and is grateful he now has a cardiologist he feels is competent and who really listens.

I was in the hospital for chest pains and Dr Borer was my Dr at Hartford hospital. He really researched my past history along with what was currently happening to me and came up with what my problem was. He has a good bedside manner and is very personable. He so deserves my excellent rating.

Easy scheduling

I recently had a nuclear stress test at Hartford Hospital and Dr. Borer reviewed the results with me. I found him to be extremely knowledgible about my case and his recommendations were right on the money. He communicated complex information in a clear and simple way that I fully understood the results.
