Horrible staff, Horrible office,

I've been a patient of Doctor Steven Brooks for a number of years and am completely satisfied with his qualifications. If you're in need of urology services, I recommend contacting Dr Brooks

First visit: was 2 hours late, then rushed through a battery of questions. 3 or 4 words in, he cut me off each time like an interrogation. At the end, apologized for being abrupt and said “I do this because I know how to get to the answer I want”. Does a test, realizes that there’s some validity, schedules me for a scope. 2nd visit: two hours late. After he said hello and asked me what my symptoms were, he cut me off again and claimed I didn’t tell him about the symptom prior and claimed I made it up. On this note, I told him that a body part was discolored about 20 minutes prior. As I lay naked from the waist down, he points to said body part and tells me it’s fine. I agree that it is not discolored at that moment, and this is when it turned: he then used my anxiety disorder against me, told me that he can’t treat symptoms that aren’t real/he didn’t know to treat (he’d have to listen to know symptoms, so it’s pretty clear that cutting me off at every question was not the greatest… move despite all of the degrees on the walls). Told me that the discoloration never happened, and... he was not in the room. It’s sort of like someone arguing about what color the sky was though they were asleep? Refused to do the scope, refused further service and... “see a shrink”. This was after yelling about how many years of experience he had. All the experience in the world won’t change that every human body is different, and that what he is trying to do is pointless at best if he doesn’t know... the gigantic cluster of symptoms that all arrived at once. He’s not the point, and was just a stepping stone to get an answer. Knowing none of this due to not allowing me to tell him what the ailments actually were (and discounting that I was referred to him - going was not exactly MY idea) put him in a position where he just made a sick person sicker, and he blamed a completely unrelated emotional disorder of mine for HIS poor listening skills. He may have treated others well, but when no one is looking, he’s not willing to listen, try, or consider that he might not know everything. My disorder wasn’t even in the picture until he brought it up himself - my nerves were only focusing on possible discomfort from the procedure itself, which can be confirmed by his assistant. This guy literally took two hours to make a bad situation worse and yell at a sick person for being sick. I pity anyone in his crosshairs, and especially the poor employees who surround him. Never been yelled at by a doctor while naked about skin color and then somehow have an anxiety disorder blamed until today, so if that humiliating experience is on your bucket list? Dr. Brooks is the person for you. If you want care, treatment, punctuality, or even a decent temperament/bedside manner? You may have more luck simply watching television and hoping for the best - because that’s the position I am in thanks to this intensely arrogant person. If I never see or hear from him again, it’s still going to be too soon. He’s lucky that Florida’s malpractice statutes are oppressively expensive to begin unless you’re rich. I walked in thinking I was seeing a doctor, I left being yelled at by a seeming sociopath. Proceed at your own peril.

My PSA level has been high for three years, double and almost triple what the standard number is, and all he tells me is the pain I am feeling is not his field of work and that the high numbers are not associated with the pain. I told him that the only reason I am here to see him is because my numbers are high and nothing else. He repeated himself again and said that the numbers being high and the pain are not related and it is another Doctor that I NEED TO SEE NOT HIS FIELD OF WORK. So I guess all the blood test and physicals that have been done over three years are completely wrong and not true and the underlying cause of my psa numbers and pain is something that everybody else missed. His exact words were there is a difference between an inflamed prostate and a enlarged prostate even though the numbers are high and I am in constant pain. So again who are you people talking about. The last checkup I had before today was six months ago and his exact words again were, "YOU HAVE A LARGE… PROSTATE FOR A PERSON YOUR AGE". He forgot to put that in his report that he filled out, just like when I told him that I was having pain in my stomach area, which again is the reason that I went for a physical three years ago and was first made aware that my psa numbers were high. Again no other reason why I went for a checkup other than pain and high PSA LEVEL. These reviews seem to me that if you have something good to say they get posted, if not they either do not get posted or people go get professional help from another Specialist.

Dr. Brooks and his staff are excellent to work with. He found and corrected an issue that had eluded two previous urologist over several years (specifically bleeding and BPH). He found an extremely large bladder stone and performed Laser vaporization of the prostate and well as Green laser Litholapaxy of the bladder stone. Problems are now corrected. He was thorough, informative and professional. .

I recently had a Greenlight Laser Surgery by Dr Brooks to treat my BPH condition that was becoming unbearable. Dr Brooks was great in giving me options and we exhausted all of them including increasing the medication I was taking. The decision to go with this procedure was made easy by researching Dr Brooks knowledge and experience in performing this procedure. It has only been 2-1/2 weeks since my procedure but I am feeling no discomfort and notice a 100% improvement. Dr Brooks took the extra time during my procedure, from 1 hr to an additional half hour in order to optimize the results in reducing my prostate as it was very enlarged. I am very grateful for him taking the extra surgery time and his time in making sure I received the best results.

Dr. Brooks is the best around when it comes to laser prostate surgery. He takes time to talk with you, and you get the feeling that he really cares. His follow up care is very good. I would highly recommend him for any prostate issues you may have.
