I used to love Dr. Bui's office, but over the years, it has declined rapidly. My entire family and I have been loyal patients for years now (since I was little), but unfortunately, we recently had a turn of events and Dr. Bui's office has once and for all made my black list. I will NEVER step foot in his office ever again.
First, customer service. There is this rude, disrespectful and unprofessional child at the front who can't handle the administrative duties required of her. I called in to schedule an appointment last Friday and she was short and curt, which wasn't a problem, but then I had a question about my insurance policy to which she did not have an answer for. She said she would look up my family's insurance information (since she did not have my file available) and have it available for me on Monday when I came in for my appointment. She did NOT have any of my insurance information available. Also, she cannot answer phone calls in a timely manner. It's pretty sad. She… picks up, tells them to hold, and does whatever else and has the patient wait on the other line until they're tired of holding and hang up. She did that twice to my mom and once to me. I also witnessed her do it during my last visit -- she would pick up, tell them to hold, and walk around to do other minor tasks.
Second, dental service. I get that going to the dentist isn't the most fun thing in the world. It can be painful and long, but since Dr. Bui doesn't do any of the cleaning himself, the quality of dental service is sketchy and mediocre at best.
Third, overall business. This is where I have my biggest issue. My dad came in for a regular cleaning and was told that he had to get a root canal done and a crown. The issue was when the office would not expedite lab results by a few days in order for my dad to get the procedure done before he went out of the country. Literally a few days before. I have worked in the medical field for over seven years now and currently run a surgical center. I know that if we need lab results expedited for any reason, we request it and the lab does it. Yes, there may be an additional cost, which we were notified of; however, when I asked how much it would cost to expedite the lab results, the receptionist (who was once again rude and short) told me that she did not know and that she would have to call the lab. She said she would not be able to get an answer until a day later. I have called on numerous occasions to check the status of lab results for doctors and have not had an issue on getting a quick answer. This receptionist just did not want to go out of her way.
So my dad came in prior to my visit and obviously did not have a good experience. He tried to understand why they wouldn't expedite the lab results, and I understood where Dr. Bui's office was coming from. If there were additional charges, they didn't want to fork out the money out of their own pocket, so they tried to get my dad to pay. Okay. So I went in that Monday after, and I spoke to the same girl and once I brought up my dad's name, the receptionist cut me off from what I was saying and immediately started being rude, saying "Yeah. I remember him. I already explained to him that we couldn't get the results sooner and your mom kept calling about it too." Um, excuse me? I don't care if you talked to my dad about it. You also did NOT talk to my mom about it because you just put her on hold and left it. So since I'm the oldest daughter and I work in the medical field, I would be the best person to explain everything to. If you are going to work in the medical field, you better understand that clear communication is vital to good customer service. Not once did I raise my voice. I was calm and patient, but I did not appreciate the receptionist cutting me off numerous times. You need to be professional and learn to control your emotions, but obviously, this office lacks that professionalism.
Dr. Bui addressed my dad's visit with me, and I explained to him that he has a personality that may come off the wrong way. He's a loud person (he doesn't yell -- he suffers from loss of hearing so he talks extra loudly), so I explained that to Dr. Bui and even laughed when he brought it up. I thought he would have understood that my dad didn't have bad intentions.
Today, 01/12/16, my dad came in for his root canal and was forced to wait an hour and a half. The receptionist was still rude to him but he did not say anything. When he was finally called back, my dad addressed his concerns about having to wait (as well as getting unacceptable treatment from his staff) with Dr. Bui, and Dr. Bui ripped the bib off my dad and told him to get out. NOW THAT IS UNPROFESSIONAL. If you cannot handle someone telling you that they do not like how your practice is being run, then you need to reevaluate the quality of your business. Accept constructive criticism, be professional and courteous, and FIX YOUR PROBLEMS.
I will NEVER come back to this office.
