Dr. Steven Lester Burns, MD

Claims to have the motto, "caring for patients begins with caring about them"; however, his version of caring includes a snap judgement of parenting abilities when a toddler is very sick, very tired, and not feeling particularly safe with the doctor treating him. We had a very unpleasant experience with this man after he comfortably doled out parenting advice yet was uninterested in receiving feedback on his delivery (I actually had to ask him to kindly allow me to finish, at which point his body language clearly was telling me where I could shove my advice). I appreciate that often times messages are misinterpreted, and one's history (aka baggage) plays a large part in how one receives feedback; however, it is common courtesy to look someone in the eye and at least pretend to be paying attention while they are talking. This man likes the sound of his own voice, not the sound of yours, and heaven forbid if your child is crying. On paper, it seems Dr. Burns has the experience… to be a good doctor...maybe today was a bad day for him, and maybe he realized how much of a jerk he came across to my husband and me...but if that's the case, he gave zero indication of any remorse as he made his judgment of my family.
