Dr. Steven John Carney, MD

I have had Dr. Carney as my primary care physician since the early 2000's. He is exceptional - he takes the time to know me and factors influencing my health, and he is exceptionally thorough in evaluating and diagnosing conditions. He is highly responsive when I do need him. I couldn't ask for more from my PCP!!

I’ve had Dr. Carney as a primary care practitioner for many years and I’ve been extremely satisfied. Dr. Carey is patient, detailed and he listens to your concerns. Very impressed.

We saw him for my son's annual because our doctor was on maternity leave (also not of good quality) however Dr Carney raced through the appointment like he was in a race to see how mant patients he could get through in one day..or there was a fire in the building! My son has chronic kidney disease and high blood pressure and he didn't even acknowledge this or anything else. He would ask me a quick question and not even wait to hear my answer. I gave up and we will never go to this clinic as I have tried so many doctors there and they all are not there for the patient and care for their needs as I individuals. And if they don't have a med to dole out, they don't want anything more to do with you. Yes, I then had to pay out of pocket once again for an alternative doctor who cares more about to the needs of the patient than Big Pharma sales, along with what can really can work for each individual

I went to see Dr. Carney for a cold. I told him I had a regular physician in Waconia but I felt ill and did not want to drive that far. He prescribed a z-pack for the cold then told me he wanted me to fill out a medicare form and wanted his nurse to go over a questionnaire with me. I again told him and the nurse I had a regular physician but he said it was good to have a "baseline." I was sick and said okay. He then billed my insurance over $700.00 calling my visit a wellness physical! My insurance refused to pay most of the bill and I am not going to be billed anything but don't see this doctor unless you want a big billing surprise! I was completely and intentionally deceived by Dr. Carney.

I found Dr Carney to be impersonal, rushed and not interested in providing an experienced where I felt taken care of. I felt like he was paid by how many patients he could see in a day. Please provide Dr Carney with beside manner training to minimize the negative impression he’s given me of Park Nicollet - and prevent him from impacting others in the same way.

After waiting 10 minutes...I was seen for 10 with a shoulder pain. He checked my movement, recommended physical therapy..I said what if it is torn? I dont want further injury. He said we can do an MRI. Those are costly. I asked about an ultra sound. He said we dont do those here. What? He offered to give me a prescription for pain after I asked him about pain management. That was it. I told him I needed to see another doctor who might actually offer help for a torn or inflamed Bursa! He charged me 273.00!!!!!!! Horrible doctor!

The last 2 reviewers mentioned his "ala carte" methods of practice. I once was being examined for the condition I made my original apt for and wanted to discuss another issue that came up, nope had to make another appointment. Don't miss an apt with this clown he'll attempt to be little you. Many of us have to deal with Mail order pharmacy's and understand what a hassle it is. If you have multiple prescriptions they don't always run out a the same time and you might find yourself needing an extra month of one prescription to tide you over until the rest run out. He's not very willing to give you the temp prescription to tide you over without an appointment to a more convenient time for you like when your other prescriptions will be ruining out. Inconveniencing people into multiple appointments seems to be the only way this guy can build a practice. Fortunately for us there are 100's of other good doctors available. I took all my medical business elsewhere, not just another Doctor but… a new clinic too, so not only is he loosing business but so is Park Nic.

This doctor does not have passion in treating patient. Every single question asked will end up as separate claims on your insurance bills....I will strongly advice to stay away if you have choice!

only needed annual prescription that had inadvertently expired re-filled. He was on call over the weekend - and exasperated a simple condition- to lack of medication. Would AVOID having his treatment or advice.

Great Doctor, very understanding and willing to help me get better in the fastest amount of time!
