Dr. Steven Joseph Carrubba, MD

Steven Carrubba, MD, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the front of the eye, including the cornea, lens, and ocular surface. He treats a range of eye problems, including dry eye disease, keratoconus, pterygium, Fuchs dystrophy, and corneal infection. He specializes in minimally invasive cataract surgery with advanced technology lenses, and both full and partial corneal transplantation. Dr. Carrubba also performs refractive surgery evaluations and helps patients determine whether they’re candidates for procedures like LASIK or PRK. Dr. Carrubba completed an advanced fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at Duke University, following his ophthalmology residency at NYU Langone Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. His research has been featured in high-impact medical journals such as Lancet and Cornea. Dr. Carrubba is dedicated to helping patients preserve their vision and quality of life. Whether treating an acute eye infection or managing a chronic condition, he takes time to thoroughly educate patients about their diagnosis and treatment options. In his free time, Dr. Carrubba likes to explore NEPA with his wife and goldendoodle. He has attained the rank of Eagle Scout and volunteers his time with youth organizations. He also speaks conversational Spanish and enjoys mentoring trainees in ophthalmology.
