Dr. Steven Michael Collins, MD

Not a terrible doctor but his office is terrible. I needed to talk to him after a CT scan and his office told me it would be a 3 week wait for an appointment. They wouldn't give him a message and my son couldn't get a tetnus shot after having rusty metal go into his shoulder. We had to go to Wegman's and pay out of pocket. I'm not sure if he realizes how bad his staff is. Also, my son went in for several things one being high blood pressure. He was told he was fine and not to play doctor. We were more relaxed thinking he didn't have a problem. Then he went to a new doctor and low and behold he does have high blood pressure that has to be monitored.

Dr. Rough is very compassionate and understanding Doctor, He has very good bedside manners and is very eager to hear what you have to say,hes not pushy to get you out and willing to listen to your concerns just wish there were more like him. Scott Sloat

Bipolar..... one minute he was polite and answering all questions and then out of blue when asked to check out a pain in my shoulder he snapped and said "I don't care bout your pain since you choose to be fat" and went on a tirade about sitting on the couch and not needing to eat five times a day and every time I am hungry (since I'm fat it means I eat five times a day). His final comment on the pain that's been bothering " as I tell other fat people who choose to live with your lifestyle, enjoy living with the pain". Wish I would have known he was a nasty person while I was searching for a local primary care doctor since I moved to the area. If you don't mind waiting 20 minutes in the waiting room and then an additional 45 minutes or so in the exam room and enjoy being belittled, Dr Collins if the right one for you, otherwise I'd avoid this place.

I am not sure what the negative response was all about but I have been seeing Dr. Collins since I returned to the Alfred Area in 2006. He has always been courteous and professional to me. His staff shows the same courtesy. He recently moved from Alfred to Belmont and I still see him as my main doctor. I highly recommend him.

This doctor can become physically aggressive suddenly without notice when you ask a question he is unprepared to answer.
