Dr. Steven Robert Erle, MD

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Erle! I started with him about 4 months ago. Since then, I have found him to be a good listener, who actually has intellectual conversations with patients and doesn’t talk down to them. He explains his thinking, is extremely attentive and quick to respond to emails . He takes initiative to work with other doctors and, most of all, he hasn’t seemed to be medication happy!

I have been a patient of Dr Erle’s for over 15 years. HE is by far one of the best drs I have been too! He has helped me so much over the years, I doubt I would have nearly 20 years of sobriety if not for my sessions with him. He is helpful and relatable. I highly recommend him!

I was referred to Dr. Erle after departing Silver Hill Hospital in 2001. Depressed and anxious after divorce, I sought help from a highly regarded practitioner, and was referred to Dr. Erle. In our time together, he behaved not just like a doctor, but as a dedicated and true friend, who cared about me as a person. While the medication he prescribed helped a great deal, it was the talking and support he provided that allowed me to truly blossom and grow, and able to extinguish all the mental illnesses I had. My life today is exceptional, and I credit Dr. Erle with helping me achieve that.

I was drinking excessively, had been for years, and could not stop. Neither an in-patient rehab program nor an intensive outpatient program helped me put a cork in the bottle. I found a therapist, but he and I couldn't connect. Then I found Dr. Erle. He helped me to understand that I had a treatable disease, alcoholism, and helped me get my disease under control. I haven't had a drink in over four years, and my life is better than it's been in quite a long time. I'm very, very grateful to Dr. Erle for his patient and persistent help.

I have been a patient of Dr. Erle‘s for a number of years. I began seeing Dr. Erle during my middle adulthood related to several chronic psychiatric conditions I carried through my life, one of which dated from childhood, another from early adulthood, and a third from adulthood. Dr. Erle provides effective treatments for these conditions, which benefit both the professional and personal aspects of my life. Equally important though, Dr. Erle has become more than my psychiatrist—he has become my primary medical advisor. Through our periodic meetings, Dr. Erle has listened to me explain non-psychiatric medical symptoms that have affected me during our relationship. He has provided timely advice and referred me to several excellent physicians I continue to see, as needed. These referrals include my general practitioner (the best I’ve ever had), an excellent neurologist, and several orthopedic surgeons that specialize in treating different acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions… related to my athletic life. Finally, Dr. Erle has provided insightful advice on personal issues not requiring medication and, on at least two occasions, he has recommended urgent medical treatment related to acute conditions that, had I put off, could have become serious. I value my doctor/patient relationship with Dr. Erle very highly and look to him as my key, long-term, strategic medical advisor.

I have seen Dr. Erle for a few years - took me awhile to realize what a negative impact he had on my life. During that time I was suicidal several times and he never even suggested or changing my medication. Instead he made jokes about telling me things like "your neighbors will find you eventually" (he seriously said that and suggested I call "Suicide Hotline"). He has zero interest in helping clients. I actually wound up more depressed seeing him. Arrogant, cruel, lazy and expensive. I plan on filing a formal complaint against him (have never done that). I finally found another Dr. who actually cares about helping me. I feel hope again.

I would recommend Dr. Erle. He is knowledgeable and professional, has a good sense of humor and seems to care.
