Dr. Steven Jay Friedman, DO

Dr. Friedman and his staff are fantastic. They are very responsive to my individual needs and have made me feel comfortable and in great hands. Dr. Friedman made my birthing experience quick and as painless as possible. He and his staff are assisting me and being so helpful in my mission to have a second baby. 5 stars!

Dr. Friedman delivered my twins over 10 years ago. He's very personable and has a great sense of humor.

I am writing because Dr. Friedman was the doctor I first saw when I went to be induced to delivered my twin boys. A long story short, it was hard to find heart tones and when he got an ultrasound machine on me he found out my baby had no heartbeat. He then went to the other side of my stomach and saw the same thing and told me (and I quote because I will never forget it), "It appears your fetuses are dead." I don't know if I was more shocked by the news or the way in which he announced the news. I felt movement still and told him so and he put his hand on my arm (in what I felt was a condesending way) and said, "That's just you breathing." I took that hand and put it to the side of my stomach and he felt it too. He got an ultrasound tech up (which he should have done in the first place) who confirmed one of my twins had died but (THANK GOD) the other was alive. THAT person said, "I am sorry but it appears that one of your babies has died." Thankfully my own doctor was able to… make it up in time to deliver my babies but Dr. Friedman was in the room assisting and I will never forget his face, the look he gave me or the sound of his voice. It stayed with me for years. To add salt to the wound, a few weeks after I delivered, his office tried to bill me for a c-section (one that I had already been billed for through my own doctor). I explained I had had ONE c-section and two babies and they didn't understand and had to call again (as if this wasn't hard enough). I have had three more children after I delivered my twins and delivered them all at 37 weeks and with NSTs because I was fearful of a repeat cord accident (both my boys were wrapped in a lot of cord which is what took my one son's life). I was careful with the two after my twins to always schedule NSTs when Dr. F. was NOT there. I thought I was in a better place with my fourth and didn't ask and sure enough... there he was to sign off on my NST. He told me there was no reason for me to have an NST really since the baby and I were healthy. I told him I had had a stillborn before (of course he wouldn't remember me though I sure remembered him) and he said, "Well, this one looks just fine." The tone of his voice and the manner in which he spoke to me brought me right back to that room when he doubted me. My son who died, died hours before delivery they could tell due to his coloring. If MY doctor and I felt it important to have an NST, it was none of his business. So... Dr. Friedman may be a fine doctor for someone who has a healthy baby but I can tell you if you have a loss, you need to steer clear. I am a member of the support group at the hospital and sadly I can tell you that I am not the only patient who has had a negative experience with him after losing a child. I truly hope that somewhere along the way someone has talked to him and he has become more caring and empathetic. Perhaps he may even see this (though I doubt he will remember me) and change the his tone the next time. Just be careful...

My best friend has been going for her whole pregnancy and now at seven months she is to take the three hour glucose test. She has a very unreliable and deadbeat boyfriend that has been nothing close to supporting. She hasn't been able to make it to the test because she has unreliable people in her life, so the nurses and doctor Friedman decide to make her feel like a piece of crap that doesn't try to get there. They said she has to find a new doctor at 7 months if she doesn't get the test done ASAP and she can't comeback until she does. She tried to explain, but they belittled her an made her feel horrible. Just goes to show that midwives are the right people to support a woman with child.

I have no idea how this guy is still a doctor. He is very very rude. He treated my wife like she was a 12 year old girl. He actaully said quote"my job is to deliver your baby not to be nice to you"
