Dr. Steven Hammer is a 1980 graduate of Southern California University of Health Sciences. He is Board Certified in Chiropractic Orthopedics (a 3 ½-year postgraduate program of instruction and testing). He also has postgraduate training in auto accidents and traumatic injury, extremity adjusting, diagnosis, adjusting children, and pain management.

The Story
In the winter of the early 1970s, Dr Hammer was in a serious skiing accident, which resulted in 3 spinal fractures. While on the long road to recovery, a friend introduced him to chiropractic. Seeing the incredible impact it made in his own life, Dr. Hammer decided to spend his life helping other people heal, and pursued his bachelor’s degree, graduate degree in chiropractic, and post graduate board certification in chiropractic orthopedics. For over 40 years he has been able to live a normal, pain-free life, in spite of serious …spinal injury as a young adult.
Dr. Hammer and his wife René have been happily married for over 30 years. They are avid gardeners and René is a UC Certified Master Gardener. They also enjoy the ocean and are big Disney fans, visiting the parks multiple times each year. Their beloved rescue fur babies (including the resident office cat Ashton) are second only to doting on their three amazing and beautiful young granddaughters.

Dr. Hammer is an Agreed Medical Evaluator and has been a state-appointed Qualified Medical Evaluator since 1991. He also serves as an expert witness in court cases involving auto accident related injuries.
He is also a past president of the Sacramento Valley Chiropractic Society and was awarded Doctor of the Year in 2004. In addition to this, Dr. Hammer is a former member of the Board of Directors of the California Chiropractic Association (CCA), former Chairman of the CCA Insurance Department, and former Chairman of the CCA Convention and Postgraduate Seminars Department.
