Dr. Steven Roy Hong, MD

Can’t speak to how he really performs at treatment for others but he failed diagnosis and treatment of my issue. Furthermore his bedside manner is not just bad it’s horrifying. For someone in the profession of healing he doesn’t understand how to holistically approach dermatology as a single organ out of an entire body. Has trouble seeing past his what his textbook told him fifty years ago! Stay away!

Dr. Hong is absolutely terrible. See someone else if you can. He was extremely rude and completely missed my condition.

Very bad experience. Incomplete removal of basal cell cancer from same spot 3 times and failed to recommend Moh's surgery. Did not not convey concern over not having achieved clean margins in excision. Ultimately switched to another dermatologist for 4th removal (Moh's) but too late -- ultimately required significant and disfiguring surgery.

I'd seen 3 other doctors with a dermatitis issue and no success. Dr. Hong quickly determined the problem and how to solve it. He's quiet, but very effective and really seemed to care about my problem! I heard of him through several friends who had the same results. He has a lot of fans in Estes Park.

I've been seeing Dr. Hong for years and I've always been very happy with him. He is in and out pretty quick but does stay on time and takes care of everything I need.

I went to Dr. Hong two years ago after being referred by my GP. Asked for a complete dermatology exam because my Dr. noticed a spot on my forehead that she thought might be cancerous. He did such a rush job with the exam and didn't even check my scalp! He seemed to be bored with his time he spent with me. Also hardly said anything while I was there, barely answered my questions. Did remove a bump that was a basal cell tumor. I came back 4 months later for a follow up. Still acted bored, I think he should go into another profession if he's not happy doing this type of work. I will never go back to him.

I went to schedule an appointment with dr. Hong and I have been to him before and his people that answer the phone hung up on me because I had medicaid. So I called back and asked why she hung up "April" proceeded to talk to me as if I was a 5 year old and told me their office reserves the right to refuse service. I asked what I did wrong to be refused service? She said you had medicaid, I told her I didn't anymore and that I was going to pay out of pocket anyway so what does it matter? She said we don't see anyone who has or has had medicaid (discrimination) wow I thought discrimination didn't happen anymore. Then she hung up on me again. Also the last time I visited Dr. Hong he didn't even see me he sent some nurse to look at my skin, when I asked where is Dr. Hong? she said he was busy and I would have to make another appointment. Very unprofessional very rude. Forget Dr. Hong there are way better out there.

I'd been a patient of D.r Hong on and off for 20+ years. When my insurance changed to Medicaid due to a personal financial crisis he would NOT see me and his staff REFUSED to even get a message to him so we could discuss the issue. I'd been a private pay for at least 10 years due to a job loss and no insurance and he always kept my regular skin check visits to a minimum ($60) which I appreciated. The medical center he works out of has a policy which his assistant made me aware of very uncaringly and rudely that each physician gets to decide whether they will accept Medicaid or not. I sent a letter to his home asking him for assistance (since his assistant refused to give me an email address for him!) in finding a dermatologist that might be able to help me but I have heard nothing back. After reading several reviews on this site I'm certain I don't want to be his patient any longer.

Went to numerous doctors who could not correctly diagnose my skin problem. Finally I was directed towards Dr. Hong who was very interested in the challenge that defeated previous doctors! He helped me as no other could and I am very pleased by his dedication to my illness. Very highly recommended.

His bedside manner is missing entirely. He's vastly inappropriate and was rude. His communications skills are minimal and his knowledge and practice of current dermatological protocols are grossly inadequate. I would not recommend him at all.
