Dr. Steven S. Hughes might be great surgeon, but not very customer focused. He had no eye contact. He didn't give me enough information.

Dr. Hughes is the Gold Standard to which all physicians should strive to be. I’ve been a long time patient of his and never once did he make me feel unimportant. He always looks me in the eye as I explain issues and when I answer his questions. He’s operated on me numerous times and the last time, I had a small heart attack in recovery. Once all was done and I was up in a room, he called his PA and wanted to talk to me! He had been called and told about the event and when I spoke with him he said he was sad that that had happened and to let him know if there was anything he could do! That is unheard of and it sets him apart from others. I’m so grateful!

Probably a great surgeon, but not very customer focused. Very little eye contact, very little compassion, and very little explanations. Does not offer much information or discussion and does not answer many questions. Instead shows a picture of what a completed surgery should looks like and provides a little sheet with a website for the patient to get the information. Must be a good doctor, there are lots of patients coming to see him. He saw me 1 hour after my appointment.

Exceptional surgeon. Outstanding experience. Dr. Hughes has operated on me twice. As a retired career fighter pilot who ejected I have serious spine issues and experience with back surgeries. Dr. Hughes, and his PA, are right to the point, providing specific guidance, detailed instructions and accurate prognosis with dates attached. You do not receive 'hand holding and promises' - you DO receive absolute professionalism, excellent health care, and a dedicated medical team focused on the patient and their rapid return to life.
