Today is the second time Dr. Kim has lost his patience with me, and I’ve decided I’m not going to take it any longer. I am going to find another brilliant eye doctor with a kinder personality. I went to see him today for a routine eye exam. I have been having trouble with my long distance vision. With my eyes dilated, Dr. Kim began shining a very bright light into first one eye and then the other. I was instructed to look at him through the light. I managed to do this with my “good eye” but not my “bad eye.” Dr. Kim got mad at me and seemed unable to understand my difficulty. He raised his voice and was visibly irritated. I had tried my best to look into the bright light, but Dr. Kim treated me like a child who had willfully disobeyed him. I would much rather see my dentist, a great dentist with a kind and agreeable personality, than subject myself to the strange moods of Dr. Kim. At least my dentist has sympathy and the ability to put me at ease ...and , yes, even to make me… laugh.

I recently had a difficult surgical procedure performed by Dr. Kim. He performed it flawlessly and can't thank him enough! If I could give him 10 stars, I would witthout hesitation.

Dr. Kim performed banding on internal hemmeroids for me. He never explained what he was doing, or seemed to care about my health. I am very health conscious and have been concerned about my bleeding hemmeroids for several years, but he didn't even ask what kind of diet I consume. The surgery was fast, followed up by a few comments about going about my daily life, not being in any pain and dont sit down on the toilet too long. My post op notes were written on the back of an endoscopy report sheet note and all it read was "Dr. Steven Kim 773-293-8878". I felt as if I was not important, he mentioned to call him in a month if anything was still bothering me. I am in a lot of pain right now and have called him and my primary dr. both of which have gone home for the day. I feel like this Dr. probably says and does what he pleases, not thinking about the patient as if he cared. I feel like I was just another name to scratch off his list of things to "do" today. I can not beleive that I was… left with a note with his phone number on it for aftercare instructions on how to take care of myself after this procedure. I am so humiliated and in pain, all I can do is lie down on my bed and moan every 5 seconds. But I have to get up and take care of my son and pick up my wife from work soon. I hope I am able to do it without too much pain. I looked up on google how to take care of my body after this kind of surgery, because he didn't really tell me much or give me any information in writing. At other hospitals, when I have had a colonoscopy for example, they gave me charts with pictures of my lower G.I. as well as many papers and information packets on how to take care and remain healthy. I guess all I can say is I hope it works. *shrugs*

Dr Steven S Kim has operated on me as far back as 2002, and as recent as 2011, 5 surgeries in all. Including him being 1 of 3 of my drs to refer me to Mayo Clinic. Dr Steven Kim has great mannerism, and office, and bedside. He always kept myself and my family informed of the situation I was in with. I would recommend Dr Kim to anyone, and give him 4 stars.

I could have ended up at a big university hospital, but I'm glad the universe sent me to Dr. Kim at Swedish. I can't say enough about this man. His attention to detail is like none I have ever experiened. He performed a robotic distal pancreatectomy w/spleen preservation. I am one week post op and feel great. Anyone looking for a general surgeon or second opinion should look him up. I was very fortunate to have him perform my surgery. Thank You Dr. Kim and staff :)
