Dr. Steven Duane King, DO

Very friendly and makes you feel comfortable, at ease, and that he cares. Very thorough and comprehensive in ordering diagnostics. Follows up on lab results and provides a copy with explanation to the patient. Accurately prioritizes the multiple problems a patient has, and leaves nothing out. Makes good referrals to specialists as needed. Promptly refills medications needed. Is a bit overly cautious in prescribing drugs with even a remote chance of addiction. For example, I asked for Lomotil, a drug for diarrhea. I had already maxed out on over-the-counter diarrheal remedies, and was still having very bad problems. He refused Lomotil because it contains Diphenoxylate which is similar to narcotic pain relievers, but it acts mainly to slow the gut. I find it hard to believe anyone would abuse a diarrhea remedy! I suggest being aware that he is concerned for patient safety, and to dialogue clearly with him if you do need a drug with addiction potential. Other than that, he is

Dr. King has been our family doctor for years, and we have always been pleased with the level of care and knowledge. Dr. King is patient, and is willing to try different things if the first medication has an undesirable side effect or didn't work as expected. I guess I'm different that some of the other reviewers in that I don't expect my doctor to know everything. I expect my doctor to evaluate the symptoms, diagnose, admit when they aren't 100% sure, and let me know we will try one thing, and if not improved within so many days, come back and we will explore further. He does exactly that. I find his nurse Nicole to be friendly and willing to help, discuss issues, etc. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and I've never felt pressured to pay urgently. Yes, they ask for payment up front, but this is not unusual. I'm just not sure where these other reviewers are coming from. My only complaint is that we don't always hear from Dr. King with results. However, that could be my… fault - they post on Mercy website, and I didn't realize this or check. I just wished they would call.

very strange office staff. Seemed like I was in a checkout line, not a doctors office. Were almost grilling me for how i was going to pay. Doctor was nice enough but I got the sense he was unsure of himself and did a blood test for what turned out to be something pretty common when I went to another doctor. Everybody seemed like they were more interested in my pocketbook than my symptoms. I dont think I will go back.

Dr. King is a nice man, but he seems to be very unknowledgable and I was told misdiagnosed a friend of mine. When I go the office staff is rude and they dontseem to be very organized and seem more interested in making money that treating patients. His lack of knowledge, and almost like they are desperate for money made me avoid going back. I really dont recommend them.

I started going there when I was a Freshman in College. Since then it has been nothing more than his cool personality and even mentorship from him. I tell all of my friends to visit him. If you are looking for a Doctor, I recommend this one.

Dr. King is a great doctor who really cares. He does not shuffle patients in and out like cattle, and I feel he genuinely cares about me as a person. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. King.

Dr. King is my first primary care doc in several years. Needed the 40,000 mile checkup. He took a great deal of time, was very thorough and caring. I was impressed with both his knowledge and his bedside manner. Two thumbs way up from me.
