Summary
I grew up in San Diego and graduated from Point Loma high school (class of 1981). I attended UC San Diego and graduated from UC Davis with a degree in biochemistry in 1985. I worked as a molecular biologist in research for five years prior to returning to school to pursue a medical degree. Early on in medical school, I grew to love the emergency department environment, the complexity of cases, the high acuity and quick thinking necessary to thrive in such an environment. More than any other specialty in medicine, the necessity of functioning as a team with one's staff is of utmost importance, and this was a good fit for me. I decided on a career in emergency medicine, and, after several years of clinical practice, enjoy my work more than ever.
