Dr. Steven F Kokmeyer, MD

I went to this doctor about 10 years ago, when I was in my late 20s because I was having severe groin and hip pain. He took x-rays and an MRI. After doing these tests, he told me my hips were fine. I can still see him looking me in the eye and telling me to go get my ovaries checked. Totally dismissive attitude. It turns out, I have profoundly severe hip dysplasia that SHOULD have been corrected when I went to him for help. I could have had a joint preservation (PAO) surgery back then. My femur is also severely anteverted and should have been de-rotated. Because of the disgusting ignorance and arrogance of this doctor, my condition went untreated. This has lead to premature arthritis and cartilage loss. Now, I have to get a hip replacement in my 30s. This all could have been avoided had this doctor simply taken my pain seriously, said he was not sure what was wrong, and referred my elsewhere. Avoid this "surgeon" like the plague!

For over three months after surgery, I had a bright red spot in the same place on my ankle and pain. At every visit (more than four during those months) I showed the spot to Dr. Kritzmeyer. His stock answer was, “Give it time.” When visiting a friend in another city, the pain in that spot became so bad I was taken to another Ortho who x-rayed the ankle and found that the red spot was due to one of the wires which had come off its wire and was trying to poke out through my skin. That dr. immediately performed minor office surgery, removed the wire, and both pain and red spot disappeared. Dr. Kritzmeyer really needs to improve his listening skills. We DO know our own bodies!

My experience with Dr Kokmeyer has been a good one. I was impressed at our first meeting that he introduced himself as Steve Kokmeyer and he put me right at ease by explaining in layman's terms what he could do for me and my knee. The surgery was scheduled and my fears and anxiety banished. The staff gave me top notch treatment and my recovery went smoothly.

He did my knee (meniscus) and hand (carpal tunnel) surgeries and both are just as bad if not worse then before they were done. Do NOT recommend him!!!

Great job and successful surgery

Dr. Kokmeyer explains things in layman terms, answers questions with great knowledge, and has a 10 star plus bedside manner. To add to all the pluses, his office staff is wonderful. Dr. Kokmeyer gave me my life back, and I feel great. I will recommend Dr. Kokmeyer to everyone.

The first thing that impressed me was he introduced himself as Steve Kokmeyer and shook my hand. Then after has been the amazing results of my knee replacement. Best results. No problems. Great follow-up. I have multiple recommended to others.

A good experience with surgery and hopeful for very good outcome. The surgeon is very professional and warm when he meets with you and does not make you feel rushed. I would highly recommend him but his office staff, not so much. He is overbooked and you have to wait too long to get in to see him without any consideration for your time from the office staff. The MD apologizes for running behind, but no one else in the office gives a darn that you have been waiting an hour...they act like it's normal practice.

I had the procedure done a while ago, was told I should get about 10 years before I needed a total knee replacement, I got 1 1/2 years, not 10, I don't blame the Dr. I just wish he had done the replacement, now I need the replacement anyway because I'm back to bone on bone.
