Dr. Steven Charles Koukol, MD

Dr. Koukol in general seems like a decent doctor if you are a traditional urology patient AKA- A man with bladder or kidney stones. I am not your usual patient I am young woman who has been passing massive amounts of blood in her urine for 3 years. He when I told him this after this seemed to have no concern or issue with it so my GP reached out to his office to have him schedule a CT SCAN and scope. Bladder scope was totally normal but the kidneys showed something called medullery sponge kidney. He essentially told me that what he found was so old no one ever talks about or diagnosed it and that i must be confused on where the blood is coming from. That it must be vaginal instead of in urine ( Despite the fact that every UA test I have taken has show blood in the urine). Literally everyone of them even the sample he took, but still he doesn't think I know the difference been my vagina and urine...... Note he was not mean about this and didn't make me feel stupid but he did make me… feel like I shouldn't be concerned or that I am not aware of my health. I also do not think he believed me when i told him i had never been pregnant, had a miscarriage, or terminated a pregnancy on my own will. I felt like this because in both appointments he asked me total of 6 times about my past pregnancy history. I don't know if he just couldn't remember or if he just didn't know what other questions to ask but as a female its quite invasive and odd to be asked that question multiple times and i left me feeling unconformable and not believed. All in all when the apportionment wad done I did get a copy of SCAN and report. However the disk is at this point useless because they have it encrypted and password they gave me does not work. The staff is pretty helpful mostly because its their job not because they love helping you. So i guess go to this doctor if your older man but do not go to him if your in your 30's and female he will just tell its your period and to move on dispute the fact UA tests prove that is not what is happening. He is a nice doctor and does seem to care. I just think he is best equip to help older patients with bladder problems. I also want to put weight in the face that he is a kidney surgeon not an actually Kidney disease specialist so i cannot fault him for that.

Dr. was very helpful, explained everything throughly, and great on follow up. I would definitely recommend him to friends and family.

totally dropped the ball !!!! botched kidney surgery all up. blood, staph and urinary infections. Nerve damage, massive body tremor's. No answers as to what caused all this or how to fix.

Dr. Koukol performed a hand-assisted laparoscopic nephrectomy on me in 1996. I was in for surgery on a Friday evening and home the following Monday. Very personable guy, seemed to genuinely be interested in my health.

Very caring and concerned Dr. Excellent bedside manner and very easy to talk too.

he is the best doctor ever! I hope he will keep it up all the time i would rate him a 5 star!!!!!!
