Within a year of being Dr. Kronick's patient, my mom confronted me: "You have a prescription pill problem." For the six years that followed, I insisted that I did not have a pill problem because I was under a doctor's care. Now, I realize, I had a medically-assisted benzodiazepine addiction that was spiraling out of control. I think Dr. Kronick is way too liberal with his prescription pad. I was on four drugs (he was pressuring me to add a fifth when I decided I didn't want him to be my doctor anymore); overall, all these drugs caused a world of side effects, in exchange for only very slight reduction in the anxiety I experienced. :: What I really needed was a doctor who would encourage me to use healthy coping mechanisms and take some personal responsibility for my mental health, and not someone who irresponsibly prescribed a practically-disabling combination of addictive prescription drugs. :: He is also not good about educating patients about the side effects of all this drugs.… If you are considering seeing him, you need to do a ton of your own research and be really prepared to advocate for yourself.
