Dr. Steven S Lebow, MD

I went to see Dr. Lebow because I was having severe headaches, visual disturbances, dizziness, extreme pain in my head neck, numbness and tingling in my arms, hands, legs, feet...I had loud whooshing noises in my ears, I had trouble swallowing and was losing weight and so much more. His diagnosis for me was " Bored housewife syndrome" he was demeaning and laughing at me during my appt. All I wanted/ needed was a referral to the neurosurgeon. He told me I was " wasting my time and my money" I finally told him " your tight..it's my time and my money..make the referral please !!" He finally did... A month later I was having decompression surgery for chiari malformation which was VERY tight...also found was syringomyelia and a large lipoma in the foramen magnum...also found were two other tumors/ cysts that never showed up on MRI's...so the surgery that was to last about 2 hours turned into 12 !! Also found was Klippel feil syndrome with severe scoliosis, cervical… instability, basilar Invagination, pituitary tumor...and later on tethered cord, Spina Bifida abd a large Tarlov cyst in my lower spine which also needed surgery... This man let me down and nade me feel like I was crazy...like I was making it all up !! Shame on him...if he has done that to me...how many others has he done this too ?? He's a sorry excuse for a neurologist and should quit !! I am happy to say... several surgeries later I am doing ok...I have 32 years of damage done to my brain stem that cannot be reversed...but thankful for the neurosurgeons that have done a great job addressing my issues.... If I hadn't pressed Dr Lebow for that referal...I believe I wouldn't be here right now or severely disabled.

I have been Dr. Lebow Patient for 17 years. He has treated be with great respect and concern. I am one who doesn't need be careful handled. I just want my issue to resolved. In which he make it happen.

Excellence of care

I am a retired hospital RN and have two generations of MDs in my family (including a neurologist). On three separate visits, I found Dr. Lebow frankly rude and grossly lacking in even basic bedside manner. He may be a good diagnostician, but suffering through his unpleasant behavior isn't worth it.I would not willingly see him again and would not recommend him to anyone I know.

When I was first referred to Dr Lebow 5 years ago I thought he was kind of arrogant. Then I tried another neurologist who had no clue what to do with me. I went back to Lebow and discovered that what I took as arrogance is really just a vast knowledge of his field. He has stuck with me when other doctors have given up.

No way to put it nicely, Dr. Steven Lebow has a very lousy bedside manner. He is rude and arrogant and does not listen to the patient because he knows it all. Would not and could not recommend this doctor to anyone.

My Parkinson's disease had been mis-diagnosed by another doctor, but Dr. Lebow recognized it almost immediately for what it truly was. Eleven years later, he continues to give excellent care and has always been there to support me as I go through the stages of this disease.
