Dr. Steven Anthony Makovitch, DO

Saw Dr. Makovitch for a few different issues after being referred by one or my orthopedic surgeons. Asked him some questions regarding my hip and he told me he “didn’t think I’d need surgery anytime soon”. A couple months later I had an appointment with a hip surgeon and wound up needing extensive surgery on one hip, and then surgery on the other as well. I wouldn’t recommend him.

Dr. Makovitch was warm, welcoming and took my concerns seriously. He asked great questions and took his time with me. He is smart and knows what he's doing. He came up with a plan of care that feels appropriate and made me feel taken care of. I was a little worried when I saw his reviews but they didn't at all reflect my experience. Don't hesitate to see him!

Do not recommend. For a physiatrist, in excusable that He does not understand soft tissue injury.

Dr. Makovitch was very kind and patient in answering questions about my back MRI. He used the MRI to point out and explain various conditions in my back and this was most helpful for me. He reviewed and approved the exercise regimen I have been using for my back. He did not rush us - he gave us the time we needed to discuss my situation. I felt very comfortable with him. He had great bedside manner and gave detailed responses when needed. I would also like to say that Jacqui was also very helpful in setting up and confirming appointment times and paper work. Although his appearance is that of a senior High School student. his knowledge and experience proves he is not! I was very pleased with how he listened to my problems and dealt with the possible source and /or sources. He was very pleasant and I only had a 5 minute for my consult and the x rays that he requested, Also the shots he thinks may help with my pain are scheduled for next week. I could not ask for a better service, Thank you

Dr. Makovitch quickly and effectively assessed my lower back condition, and he was able to make very good use of some 5-year old MRI images without ordering another trip to the MRI machine. Gave me solid guidance on some of the exercises I am doing, advised avoiding some others, and gave me suggestions of things I can work on throughout the entire day. I left with a set of instructions and homework. I gave him a 4 instead of a 5 because my condition did not require Level 5 help. NOTE: I did not go in looking for a miracle cure; I expect to have to cowboy up and work for any improvement in my back pain.

I made a last-minute appointment to see Dr. Makovitch yesterday, and was able to get in this morning. After reading the reviews I almost called the office back and asked for a new doctor. When I got there, I thought Dr. Makovitch listened, gave good options to consider and took enough time to check what and where my pain was so I didn't feel like I was being brushed off.

Misdiagnosed cause of my lower back/ hip pain. Arrogant and dismissive.

Too green. Lacking practical, real-world clinical experience. If you have a problem that cannot be taken care of with an injection, go somewhere else.
