I arrived at my appointment early and provided them with a copy of my insurance coverage which indicated services rendered from out of network providers were not covered. I waited in the lobby 30 minutes PAST my scheduled appointment time. I was given a "tour" as we proceeded to the open exam room. There is NO privacy. You see and hear all the interactions with the other patients at the practice. At this time, I was given a stack of papers to complete. Despite already completing this information online prior to my appointment. An additional 30 minutes pass, with no acknowledgement from anyone. Finally, a woman came back to take the paperwork. I asked what the delay was, she indicated they needed this paperwork completed. When I asked why I wasn't given this paperwork when I was waiting in the lobby for 30 minutes, I received a blank stare with no explanation. I inquired how much longer it would be and I was informed they needed to confirm my coverage with my insurance… company. Finally, I get a treatment plan without seeing a dentist or hygienist. I was told my insurance was accepted and my copay would apply. However, they wanted to complete 18 Xrays! I agreed to allow them to complete the bite wing series as which I knew was due to be done. An hour and 15 minutes AFTER my scheduled appointment time, we began. XRays taken, saw Dr. Mitchell for 2 minutes and his diagnosis was I needed a cleaning. That's why I scheduled the appointment. I was then informed they had only 1 hygienist and she was busy. When she arrived, I was then informed the cleaning was with a hydro system of water and baking soda. Not a traditional cleaning. The dental assistant was making the last notes when she informed me that my next appointment would be of no cost since my insurance would cover the cleaning and exam. At the front desk, I was informed after my appointment, that they are out of network. I'm not exactly sure what they were confirming with my insurance company while I waited but was told they didn't inquiry about out of network coverage. I contacted my insurance company who told me they are in network and to confirm their tax id number. However, the office would not provide the tax id number to me. For those of you who would like to confirm your insurance coverage prior to your appointment, my insurance company has given me their tax id number. It is 47-2306046.
