12 years ago, I went to Jefferson University ER in Philly, I had fallen, I had an open, burgeoning wound on my leg, my fever was climbing, and I am diabetic. The Jefferson ER attending physician told me my fever, my dripping nose, my coughing, this was all a sinus infection, never mind my leg was swelling and purple and gooey, never mind when I went in, my temperature was 99, by the time they shooed me out the door it was 102.5 - in less than four hours - what mattered was they didn't want to bother with me. About 4-5 hours after the unceremonious discharge, the wound on my leg *popped* open, now I had an actual hole and I was leaking an alarming amount of pinkish fluid. I took a cab to Frankford Hospital ER, my temperature was 104, and the ER doc took one look at my leg and immediately numbed it to slice open the wound, pulling out a shocking amount of infectious tissue before he packed it. My temperature dropped down to normal, my dry mouth was no longer dry, and in less than an… hour, Dr. Moonblatt at Frankford ER saved my leg and my life. Frankford ER is now known as Aria Medical at Frankford. They're in a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia. Jefferson University Hospital is in a wealthy one in center city. Twice I have had problems at Jefferson since then, both times emergency related, because I would never have returned otherwise. I tell everyone who asks what I think of them, I have the paperwork to prove it, too. And when I talk about what happened, I tell people they should seek out Dr. Moonblatt if they want to be treated well and be healed.
